I'm struggling with video focus on the Canon 7D which will be make or break for me keeping or selling it off. I shot this video of a calamari squid hunting yesterday: As you can see, whenever the squid moves closer to the camera, the footage goes out of focus. I switch regularly back and forward between video and stills, mainly filming marine animal behaviours which can be unpredictable. Are there any not-overly complicated solutions to this or is my 7D about to have a 'For Sale' sticker put on it? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Hi there, I'm selling my Underwater Wide Conversion lens from Olympus as I'm getting the WWL-1 from Nauticam. It provides a 100 degree underwater angle of view (Magnification: 0.6x). It screws directly to the front of the PT housing. It is advised to use Silicone Grease for PT Series Underwater Housings on the lens threads prior to attaching. I bought in 2016 in Malaysia, used on two housings (PT-056 for Olympus Tough 4 and PT-EP12 for Olympus Pen 7). I will give as well the step-down ring 67mm to 52mm. I have attached a few photos taken in November last year (Sipadan). Everything is good condition, it was still used recently. A few micro-scratches on the front lens which do not affect the quality of the images. I have modified the caps so it can be used with a lanyard. Original invoice provided but not the box. Hello again, I'd like to conduct an informal poll on the White Balance settings you folks like to use underwater with your Sonys. I did a lot of underwater photography back in the days of film, but have not yet shot any digital underwater, and figuring out white balance settings is a major concern for me right now. I'm headed to Mexico next week with my a6300, but I think all the Sony Full Frame and Mirrorless bodies from the last couple of years are fairly similar in terms of their white balance characteristics. I've read so many posts on this WB topic recently that my brain is just fried. Some say you should take a custom white balance every 10-15 feet, some say if you do this the Sonys throw an error because the reading will be outside the 9900k color temp limit, some say just set the WB manually to 9900k and add a +7 M tint, some say Underwater Auto White Balance works well enough, some say just Auto White Balance is fine, one guy posted PDFs of A4 size color swatches he made that simulate UW color cast, and that you can print those out and take a custom WB reading from them in daylight. Wow, so many freaking choices! Last time I took photos underwater the only 'White Balance' options were either Kodachrome or Fuji . I'll be shooting video as well as stills, using Sony's 10-18mm wide angle zoom. I'll be diving on the Pacific side of Mexico. I expect visibility of only about 30-40 feet. For video I have a Kraken Hydra 2000 lumen video light mounted on the cold shoe of my Nauticam housing on a 4 inch flexi arm. My plan was to use Sony's Underwater White Balance for video, because I'm afraid if I set a custom White Balance for the ambient light, anything illuminated by the light will be too red. Is this a valid concern? But I've read that Auto WB can change the color cast of your video abruptly and is best avoided. I think I'm going to shoot XACV-S in 4k, but I'd rather not have to do any color grading in post. What settings do you folks like to use for WB for UW video with a light? For stills I'll have two Sea & Sea YS-D2 strobes with diffusers. My plan for stills is to use Sony's Flash White Balance setting. That should give me good color for whatever is illuminated by the flash, but I'm not sure how the background water column is going to look. I will be shooting RAW, so I'm thinking I'll have enough latitude to adjust the background water to a color that is pleasing if need be. Does this sound like a good plan? What WB setting do you like to use on your Sony for Wide Angle stills with strobes? One other quick question - do you think I'll need to kill the video light prior to shooting a still? I'm concerned it could cast unwanted shadows or add a color cast, but maybe the strobe will be so much brighter it won't matter. Thanks for all your help guys and gals!

Hey everyone! Like many, I was bitten by the dive bug and being an avid photographer, purchased an underwater camera housing system in 2014 thinking I would dive ten times a year and take a whole heap of awesome photos/video. Alas, real life has a way of bringing you back to reality and finances have dictated that the gear must go to free up funds, having been used on one dive in Canada. I currently live in Ireland but was home recently to take photos (photo files are too big so please contact me via email to see the photos!) of the gear and if there is interest, I will be back in Canada in july for a wedding and could arrange a paypal transaction and ship the gear then. I bought the gear for approx $7200.00 CAD + tax and am looking to sell it for $6500.00 CAD. It is all packed and ready to ship too! This is an unreal deal tbh as some of the gear has never been used and everything else has literally seen water once and not even salt water, for that matter. Unfortunately, given my current location, I cannot take further photos but would be happy to answer any questions you might have to the best of my ability. I have two used Ikelite DS161 Strobes/Video lights up for sale. I purchased both of them used last spring 2017 from Ebay. I used them both less than 10 times (probably more like 4 times) and realized that they are just too unwieldy for instream photography. I recently bought a Retra strobe and I think that the size is a bit more what I am looking for. So I am now trying to offload these two Ikelites. One of the strobes has some cosmetic wear from the previous owner (see pics). The other strobe is in great shape. Both strobes are fully functional and operate well. Both have battery packs, sync port covers (metals screw caps) and both have the 1" ball adapters. However, I only have one diffuser and one charger. My new video of small critters from the Lembeh Strait and Anilao. Filmed with a Panasonic GH4 in a Nauticam NA-GH4 housing with either 2 x Keldan Luna 4X lights or 2 x FIX Neo 1000 DX SW II lights. I used an Olympus M.Zuiko ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ lens and a Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 macro lens. On some shots I used a Nauticam Compact Macro Converter CMC-1. Xit404 tripod. The UHD footage was downsampled to 1920x1080, allowing me to crop and zoom. Only the wonderpus shot was stabilized. All feedback is welcome. Particularly, are there any weak shots, or uncomfortable edits? I may submit a refined version to a festival or two.- 9 replies

I'm selling my Ikelite 8" modular dome + 2.75" lens extension (Ikelite product numbers 5510.45 and 5510.11). Used only a few times (literally, 3 or 4). Bought it without checking if my Nikkor 14-24mm would fit, which it doesn't, and after borrowing a 15mm prime from a friend I actually figured out that I don't like wide angle photography underwater so much. Hi, I'm thinking about enrolling myself into my first underwater photo workshop (instructor well known pro underwater photographer). I would consider myself intermediate level underwater photographer but quite knowledgable about above water photography but not professional. I would like to take my underwater photography to the next level of creativity. How useful have non-beginner people found these workshops? Worth the money? Have you've discovered things you wouldn't have thought of by just reading books/forums? Thanks for your opinions. -

Hi Everyone, I wanted to share my latest short film. This is a followup to my award winning 'Stay With Us' film. The story will have a total of three parts. Hi all, I am looking to acquire an old Ikelite housing made fore the Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera. I believe the housing was manufactured in the 70s or 80s so I'm not sure how lucky I'll be here but in my research I found some threads that were a few years old where people were buying/selling these housings so who knows. Lighting the subject is easier than when I use a larger dome, and I like not having to use an extension ring. The only disadvantage is that you can't do over/under shots. That, and the fact that there is no good neoprene cover that will stay on the port. So protect your port! Hello everyone I am looking to progress into underwater photography with my DSLR camera. I live in Cozumel Island, here we have giant reef structures and 100 ft. plus visibility. This are perfect conditions for underwater photography and filming. I actually have a Canon T3I or 600D camera and a pair of gopro's. I would like to hear any recommendations or tips in order to buy my equipment. Should I stay with this camera? Which housing is good for me? Where can I buy it? New or used? I've done some research and this camera is pretty good for beginners, I am really interested in buying a housing for less than 200 ft. depths but they seem to be very expensive. I am and student so my budget is kind of restricted. Also I will be glad to contact or provide any recommendations to anyone who is coming to the Yucatan Peninsula. Thanks

Dear Wetpixel community, I am a newbie to the world of underwater photography, I have recently bought an Oly tg-4 with pt056 housing. I have gone on a few snorkelling trips and after reading in several forums decided to shoot all my pics in RAW. As you can probably tell from my choice of camera I have decided to go for a not too price heavy introduction to this world. I would now like to fool around with some post processing, I have tried out the program that comes with the olympus camera (olympus viewer) but I have found it to be quite slow and not particularly good at balancing the colours when compared to what I have been shown by friends such as photoshop. My pictures were shot between surface and 20 meters, without any stobes lights or filters in the med, so I am sure you can imagine just how blue they are . I have done some research online and have found many sources making a case for adobe lightroom. As I understand it this would be very much on the higher end in terms of quality of tools for post-processing. My issue is that being very much a beginner and only managing a few photo trips a year, I am not sure that it would worth it for me to buy such a program. Otherwise, Gimp looked interesting but it seems that it is not compatible with .ORF (olympus raw format). What do you use? Do you know of any program that is more affordable or dare I say open source, while still having a decent range of functions and not being too slow? Also if you have any tips for someone that is new to post-processing, I would be very grateful to hear them! Thanks in advance, Giuliano
