  4. Hey Guys, I am currently shooting with a 5D mkiii in Ikelite housing using the 5510.40 port and 8.5 inch dome with canon 16-35mm mkii lens which is required to be mounted after the camera is fastened within the housing due to the standard port being too small in diameter. My current issue is that with this method the Lens sits too far into the Dome and correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure that this is causing the Lack of sharpness mainly in the corners but i find that the image in general lacks a slight sharpness. So i am now looking at purchasing the wider Zen port which is optimised for the 16-35mm mkii and allows it to fit into the system properly. http://reefphoto.com...roducts_id=6516 Another thought was purchasing a +2 diopter to increase sharpness again. Does anyone have experience with this set up and the Zen port and if so did you find the lens sat properly within the dome and produced reasonable image sharpness? Also does anyone have experience or could lend any advice on the addition of a +2 diopter. Is it worth it? Any info would be much appreciated!

  6. Hello everyone, I wanted to share a short video of the famous "Betty Bomber" plane wreck in Truk. It is a fun and photogenic wreck in Truk that is not to be missed. This was shot with the new 16-35mm F4L canon lens on the full frame 5d. It also used an 8" dome. I found the sharpness excellent in comparison to the 17-40mm. Let me know what you think. Enjoy! 7. Here's a little compilation of footage shot on a recent trip to Belize. Shot with a 5dmk3 in a Nauticam housing. Canon 16-35 lens. All natural light - though it would have been nice to have had lights for the whale shark - but they were not permitted . Being relatively new with this camera and DSLRs in general, I am quite happy with the results. The premiere pro editing software was great as well as the After Effects add on I used to stabilise the shots - one or two shots have a bit of waviness as the motion was too much for the software to handle - like when I bonked a coral with my dome - oops (objects in the viewfinder are closer than they appear). I did see the softness in the edges with the 16-35mm lens but generally good sharp shots with good depth of field. I bought this camera for low light performance and I have not been disappointed... The white balance capability was also quite impressive (particularly after struggling at times with my Sony 550 HDR video cam....) Footage is from dive sites at Glovers Reef, Lighthouse Reef and of course Gladden Spit for the whale sharks. We dove and stayed with Hamanasi - a very good operation.
  8. Hi I have a Canon 16-35mm f2.8L II lens with a Nauticam housing and I was wondering what the best Glass Dome would be for that lens? I am looking at the Nauticam 9inch glass dome but I have heard that it lacks sharpness at the corners. Has anyone had any experience with this set up and experienced the same problem? Any opinions on how to improve this problem or recommendations for domes that dont have this issue with this lens would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. For CF/WA photos, wich is better, sigma15mmFE + 1,4xTC or Nikon 16-35mm? And Why?
