Hi, the question is more Ikelite vs something more expensive for a Canon 7d. I've practiced photography for many years, but this is my first foray into UW (besides action cams). I'm primarily looking at the used market and want to know what benefits I'd really get from spending a bit more on an aluminium housing vs the cheaper Ikelite polycarbonate option. Price is definitely an important factor, but if there are significant issues with using a plastic housing (i.e. fogging, less reliable) I would be willing to spend more. As a second part of the question, what are people's opinions regarding the different Al housings? I've seen several reviews of the Aquatica and the Nauticam, which seems to put the Nauticam on top. I am also located in Colombia (South America), meaning buying from the US is relatively easy, but from Europe expensive (where Hugyfot seems to be more available) Thanks for any advice.

Hi everyone, first post on here! It involves a couple of different questions, so thanks in advance for your attention... I've recently upgraded from a compact to a used Hugyfot DSLR housing for my Nikon D500 that I already used for topside photography. The purchase included: Sigma 10mm EX DC HSM f/2.8 fisheye lens, 20mm & 50mm extension rings, 6.5" acrylic dome port (note: I do not know if the true diameter of the dome is 6.5"; it is not a full hemisphere, but I don't have it to hand right now to measure). In addition to this, I already have a Sigma 105mm OS HSM f/2.8 macro lens and a Tamron 10-24mm Di II VC HLD rectilinear wide-angle (both good lenses in their own right - at least above water) that I am hoping to be able to use with the housing. My first questions are: does anyone have experience using the Sigma macro and Tamron wide-angle lenses underwater, and if so are they worth building my setup with? The Nikkor 105mm VR Micro is the direct competitor of the Sigma, but I would prefer not to have to upgrade if possible. If they are indeed worth using underwater, does anyone know the correct extension rings for using i. the Sigma with a Hugyfot flat port, and ii. the Tamron with the 6.5" dome port? Hugyfot lens compatibility charts aren't super comprehensive, and I don't trust myself to correctly identify the entrance node of the Tamron. I am also considering selling the 6.5" dome port and getting the 7" fisheye port instead if the dome optics with the Tamron wide-angle would work fine, but I can't find any comparative info using my lenses. Final question has to do with some wear on the housing anodisation itself. It seems that something rough has come into contact with the rear of the housing and (I think) exposed the aluminium in two small areas (the damage is half the size of a pea). Thankfully the housing was mostly used in a freshwater pool previously, but obviously I want to prevent any corrosion ASAP and would welcome any advice on this. I attach a photo of this damage. Thanks again, Michael

I own a Nikon D500 with a Hugyfot housing. I currently use only the Tokina fisheye with it underwater, but I want to also shoot some Macro with the Nikon 40mm f2.8 DX lens. Unfortunately, Hugyfot has a bit of an incomplete port chart and this is one of the lenses missing. This lens is a bit smaller (5mm shorter and thinner) than the Canon EF-S60mm f2.8 for which they advice a FLP L70 flat port, but unlike the Canon lens, the Nikon lens extends when close focusing (by 2cm) Does anyone have experience using this lens on a Hugyfot house and can you tell me what port used. In general, what is the optimal distance between the front element of the lens and the glass of the flat port? As close as possible or is there some gain in having a bit more space?

Hello, Did anyone try to upgrade Hugyfot 7D house to 7D mk ii? Because the camera are more similar the different on the outside. And result somewhat more update camera without have to spent to much money. Thanks, Marc -
This is a complete professional underwater kit. No expense spared. There are $3,000 worth of Nikon lenses and camera in this kit alone. Hugyfot housings are the best on the market and built to last. The rig is in terrific shape and has been well-looked after. I have dived it several hundred times all over the world and never had a leak. The Hugyfot preparatory vacuum and leak alarm system is the best system on the market. An alarm sounds if vacuum pressure is lost so that the camera can be surfaced before water ingress. - Hugyfot D700 Aluminum (HFN-D700) underwater camera housing with flood alarm, vacuum fitting, and 45 degree view finder - Nikon D700 FX SLR camera with two batteries (compact flash card compatible) with original box and manuals - Go Pro Hero 3 camera with two housings (including touchscreen back), remote control, back mount screen, camera top mount and suction cup mount - Backscatter Flip 3.1 filters for the Go Pro - Hahnel Giga T Pro II Remote Control - Zen DP 230, 230mm Dome - Nikon Nikkor 28-300mm 1:3.5-5.6G lens with original shade, dust bag, box and manuals - Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8 lens (pre-VR) with original shade, box, shade and manuals - Nikon AFS Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8G ED lens with original shade, box, shade and manuals - Nikon AFS Nikkor 16-35mm 1:4G ED rectilinear lens with original shade, box, shade and manuals - Tokina At-X Fisheye 10-17 F3.5-4.5 DX (hood modified for Nikon FX standard) - 1.4x Tenko Pro 300 DGX Teleplus - Manfroto Carbon Fibre tripod MKBFRC4-BH - Manfroto 390 MM394 Monopod - Two Inon Z240 strobes with protective neoprene jackets, red night pilot light filters and full daytime filters - Four backscatter ultralight arms and hand adjustment clamps with tuned buoyancy foam - Sola Photo 1200 light (three way top mount) - All Hugyfot ports, fittings and gears for Tokina 10-17mm fisheye, Nikon 105mm, Nikon 60mm and Nikon 16-35mm rectilinear lenses - Comprehensive assortment of spare o-rings, o-ring grease, desiccants, lens papers, maintenance tools and battery chargers - Four sets of eneloop rechargeable batteries with charger - spare housing batteries and vacuum pump batteries - Thinktank padded roll-on luggage suitcase - Lowepro shoulder sling day bag I am not interested in breaking up the rig and selling parts. In another thread I started about strobes, the thread was getting sidetracked with questions about the SWC corrector lens set. So I decided to start a new thread. The Zeiss corrector lens set is used to correct for the decrease in angle of view due to the physics of water when using the SWC. The set consists of the outside flat port (spherical inside) and the smaller lens that mounts on the camera. Even if you have these two lenses, you also have to have the "gauge" tool to properly set the distance between camera and port and also to ensure that they the camera is perfectly perpendicular to the gauge tool. The camera is set at 10 feet, seated on the gauge tool, and mounted using the SWC mounting screw which allows for adjusting the axial distance. This "guage" tool is screwed in place of the port lens, then removed. My dad never acquired the SWC rear section of the housing. Instead, he removed the prism and would imagine the viewfinder frame. Haha.

Due to system upgrade I'm selling this brute!... You know the brand - built like a tank - vacuum system faultless - simplicity and quality over finnicky plastic controls! Heinrich Weinkamp TTL converter (never used) and 2 nikonos bulkheads. Ports and house shows marks of wear (from about 400 dives) but no visible scratches on acryllic (Macro port has only 20 dives since last polish - Wide angle about the same). Minor post-production modification to vacuum indicator - makes it MUCH easier to see diodes. No defects to electronics or hardware. Reach out for more detailed pictures. Complete package 950 EUR plus postage - Paypal accepted.

Hello. Im going to egypt in december and i have been waiting for Nauticams new version of floatarms but they never show up. Have been waiting for 6month now and im starting to get worried about not getting them for the trip. So i started to look around the web for alternatives. And i found hugyfot adjuatable floatarms. First i was sceptical but after a while i started to like the concept. You fill them up with water at a certain deepth. Deeper=more water=less bouyancy. https://www.hugyfot.com/assets/media/downloads/HugyFloat_brochure.pdf Now i wonder if anyone had them, have seen them or heard anything about them. Does it work well? Are the quality good? Etc.. The only downside i can think of is that my rig will be heavier above surface if i want to keep the same bouyancy for next dive. But as i will need over 1500gram for macro and 4arms will give me about 1600g, i dont need that much water inside them,if any. For wide angel i will use two arms, instead of four. Share you thoughts! Thanks in advance.

Dear Wetpixel I actually didn't plan to upgrade from this Nikon D300 setup yet, but a trip to the dark North during Winter (no sunlight) forced me to upgrade to more sensitivity - so for sale is: Hugyfot housing for Nikon D300 - completely serviced end of 2016 including change of electronics (without TTL-converter). CNC-machined aluminium housing with two electrical flash sockets (5-pin Nikonos), Huge-Check vacuum system. I bought the house November 2008. Included: spare O-rings, pump, tools, manual. Nikon D300 camera for sale can be included. The cameras shutter-count is 35.500 - estimated life-time is 150.000. Included: Two batteries, charger, strap, two 8GB and one 16GB card, all paperwork and manual and original software. Please note: There are no ports, arms, flash, flash cables or lenses included. In my opinion this is a great way to start shooting DSLR in a (fairly) cheap way, as long as you think you will be using Nikon and Hugyfot in the future, so you can reuse the lenses and ports, which you will need to buy. Total price (housing and camera): 1.500€ - or give your best bid :-) Price (housing only): 1.200€ - or give your best bid :-)
