  1. https://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?/topic/69172-nikon-z9-for-underwater-image-makers/&tab=comments#comment-437849 Since Adam only talked about the photographic features of the z9, it's worth mentioning that two days ago Nikon released a software update that all the specialized sites don't hesitate to call epochal. It's basically like having a Z9 II. There are a lot of specific features for video that Nikon seems to take very seriously and also several features regarding the photographic autofocus. For video The most incredible thing is the ability to record RAW 8K@60p directly on the internal CF Express card also has a new 4K mode above sampled by the 8k sensor. However I leave you to the article of PetaPixel that summarizes the news. https://petapixel.com/2022/04/13/nikon-z9-update-is-so-big-it-could-have-been-a-whole-new-camera/ P.S. On 20th of April Nikon will release an update for Z7 II and Z6 II with better autofocus performance.
  2. In another thread I mentioned I managed to convert my Nauticam NA-Z7 housing to fit the newer Nikon Z6/Z7 II cameras. I've been asking about that Nauticam and few dealers, but seems no one has tried to do it and Nauticam decided to release a newer version (which is expected as housing producer). After measuring and experimenting with the position of the camera and the original slider I came up with a 3D printer top part of the camera holder/slider. (If someone needs the STI file for printing - let me know by PM). The original Z6/Z7 is 2mm thinner than the new Z6/Z7 II, but it seems that these extra 2mm on the newer camera are mostly in the back. So I designed a new 3D printed slider that compensates for the new thickness. I can confirm that all the buttons work perfect and as you can see on the pictures - they are aligned great to the housing push mechanisms. One thing to consider is the top right rotating button on the camera. On the housing it has a spring mechanism, but it has around 4mm of travel thus it's also fine and you do not need to remove 2mm from its rubber to compensate. Steps: You need to remove around ~1.3-1.4mm from the top limiter rubber pins of the housing that supports the camera near the flash connector (I've included pictures) 3D Print the new part for the Camera Holder/Slider (the blue one) - I used FDM print at 50% fill PLC material and it cost me 5€. You can use ABS material as well and/or 80-100% fill which should be stronger, but I doubt it's needed. *) I've also ordered SLS print now (20€) and will post update here if it's necessary better Move the metal pin from the old holder to the new 3D printer one (picture included) Remove the original top part of the camera holder/slider and install the 3D printed one. Enjoy and post feedback here! I have spare 2pcs from the initial versions of the new holder. They are not perfect, but can be used without a problem. If someone is interested - PM me. (you can see then in the last picture) Here you can see all the pictures and details of the result: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1VrtpPggBuLzxIbv19X19sVbk_w00Hb-k?usp=sharing

  6. Hello folks, after many happy dives together I’m parting ways with my trusty D500 setup. “El camarón” (“The Shrimp”) has won me several awards over the last couple of years, so I want to make sure it finds a good home. After all it’s still a very capable camera! I have a full setup to sell and will give preference to those that are interested in the whole thing, but I am open to selling parts of it also. Here’s what’s for sale: - Nikon D500 including a total of three batteries, charger, 32GB XQD memory card, 64GB SD card, XQD card reader, all in excellent condition: $1150 - Nauticam NA-D500 housing including M16 vacuum valve, vacuum pump, Nauticam flash trigger, UWTechnics HSS flash trigger, additional M5 ball mount, bracket for hand strap: $2900 The housing has gotten a fair bit of use but is 100% functional. It’s just showing cosmetic details, like the white paint coming off on some of the button labels and some (limescale?) deposits around the buttons, despite having been thoroughly rinsed after every use. If cosmetics are important to you you could send it to Nauticam to be refurbished and get a like-new-looking housing back for a couple of hundred bucks. The velcro hand strap tore, so I “fixed” it with zip ties You could easily get a velcro replacement for a couple of dollars, I just never did as my zip tie fix did the trick. The housing never flooded, leaked or otherwise malfunctioned. I also have a couple of spare bits and bobs in terms of replacement parts like springs and stuff, should you ever need to repair anything in the field. - Nikkor AF-S DX 10-24mm 1:3,5-4,5G ED with Nauticam zoom gear: $770 The lens is in excellent condition, it’s just missing the hood that usually comes with it (donated to Poseidon) Works very well with 230mm dome and Extension ring 50. - Tokina 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 AT-X 107 DX Fisheye with Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 DGX 1.4 Teleconverter and Nauticam zoom gear (for both with and without TC), All in excellent condition: $560 Without TC: needs either Zen 100mm dome without extension or 230mm dome with Extension ring 20 With TC: use with Zen 100mm dome and Extension ring 20 - Micro-Nikkor AF-S FX 60mm f/2.8G ED, like new, works with Macro port 60: $420 - Micro-Nikkor AF-S FX 105mm 1:2,8G VR, like new, works with Macro port 60 and Extension ring 20: $660 - Nauticam 45° Viewfinder: $770 The rubber cup around the viewfinder has started to disintegrate, otherwise it’s in very good shape. Like on the housing, the white paint on the labels is coming off. - Nauticam Macro port 60, excellent condition: $380 - Zen DP-100-N120T 100mm dome port, excellent condition: $650 - Zen DP-230-N120-1124D 230mm dome port: $1200 This dome has a couple of very small, fine scratches on the glass. They almost never show up in pictures though so have never bothered me much. I will try to get some close up pictures of them which will then be in the Dropbox folder linked below. There are also some mild hard water stains along the edge of the glass that do not show up in pictures. Comes with a GoPro mount on the top and some trim weights at the bottom. - Nauticam Extension ring 20 with lock, good condition: $260 - Nauticam Extension ring 50 with lock, excellent condition: $280 All of this adds up to $10,000 Package deal: $9600 I’m also happy to part ways with a Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 70-300 mm F/4.5-6.3G ED VR, a basic telephoto for some casual bird photography for example for another $200, excellent condition. I’m based in Mexico but am happy to ship anywhere. Shipping and import duties would be on you. I could also potentially ship it from another country while traveling (for example from Florida in about two weeks), or you just come to La Paz, pick up an amazing camera system and go diving with some sea lions or swim with some marlins. I’ll even take a few pictures of you using it! I will put detailed pictures in the following Dropbox folder in a few days. I’m currently traveling so don’t have all parts with me right now. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rg5kwqvx3iqn1ap/AAD7BEoB8mFJzF8oPE3MqZb_a?dl=0 Any questions just let me know! Hannes
  7. I am a professional photographer selling my D850/Nauticam underwater setup because I recently switched to Canon. The setup has been amazing for the past few years (I bought it new in 2018) and would be a great setup for anyone looking to shoot full frame and 4k video underwater. It has never flooded. Although used, it has been treated with care. There are minor scratches on the dome that do not affect the photos. Almost everything on my website was photographed with this camera. What's included: A Nikon D850 camera and 16-35mm lens, Nauticam housing (with vacuum valve and pump), a big Zen glass dome, zoom gear for the included lens, an extension ring, and connections for optical strobes. Also includes extra o-rings, original manual, lots of batteries, and 2 chargers. Here are the details: Nikon D850 camera body AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR lens Nauticam NA-D850 Housing for Nikon D850 Camera Nauticam M16 Vacuum Valve II (Pushbutton Release) Zen DP-230-N120-1124D 230mm Glass Dome for Nauticam - 100m Version Nauticam N1635-Z Zoom Gear for AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR Nauticam N120 Extension Ring 90 with Lock Nauticam Optical Connector for Nauticam End …and because I’ve switched to Canon, I’m also throwing in: 5 batteries 2 battery chargers I bought all of this for $10,600 in 2018. I’m asking $5,800 for everything or $3800 if you don’t want the camera and lens. Ships from Florida, USA.
  8. So there, the evil (upgrade bug) has struck...Been browsing upgrade options for the GH4, and by pure accident noticed S5 - literally FF in GH5M2 body and with lens choice that appears fairly priced. I have always shunned the FF format as both crazily expensive and bulkier than M4/3 but it seems that in the past 1-2 years a lot of so called "entry level" FF cameras showed up, with weight matching M4/3 (or even lighter) and reasonable price (sub 2000 USD), meanwhile M4/3 seems to have gotten a bit heavier, and given the GH5M2/GH6 prices basically matching entry level FF. And I only care about stills, video being irrelevant more or less, so perhaps FF could be a good choice here. As I can tell that the evil is strong, thought I will ask a few questions since seems there are lots of FF folks here. Body wise looked at the following: Nikon: Z5/Z6 II Panasonic: S5 Fuji: XT4 Sony A7RIII / IIIA Anything else out there ?? (sub/around 2000 USD, those A1 cameras are way out of my price range ) A link to a comparison of tech specs of those (vs GHx) below, using dpreview camera comparison feature: GH4 vs GH5M2 vs GH6 vs Z5 vs Z6 II vs S5 vs XT4 vs A7RIII vs A7RIIIA Also a good read on Wetpixel: The Perfect Underwater Camera I am a bit confused by the Sony stack, also curious why Fuji did not get much traction underwater, as it seems an excellent camera on paper at least. But these seem more or less similar to a degree, though AF being generally praised on Sony and Canon R5 (not included as way too pricey) , hence this brings me to my main point - lens mounts and lenses. These all have different mounts L/Z/E and whatcha not. And I am confused.com. So a few questions to all the FF users out there (in an organized fashion so perhaps this topic can serve as a reference later): 1) are there any pro/contra of mount X vs mount Y? (as in tech specs of the mount itself) 2) are there any pro/contra of mount X vs mount Y? (as in lens ecosystem prices and future support, e.g. F being abandoned etc) 4) are there any lenses that are better with a given mount than other? (in other topic there was a talk of Sigma 105mm being slower on Z-mount for example) 5) are there any lenses that really shine but are specific only to a given mount? 6) are there any lenses types that are missing for a given mount, forcing usage of WACP or other pricey/heavy solutions? (like no wide angle etc) 7) anything else that might be important when considering body X /mount A vs body Y/mount B? Thanks for all the feedback in advance EDIT: Forgot to add - do feel free to tell me i am silly and upgrading to FF will yield little benefits. That is also an open question.

  13. Hi guys! I am totally new to this forum. I tried to find a thread treating my issue but haven't found one, so I decided to start a new topic. I have been using Oly MFT (since 2011 OM-D M5, since 2016 OM-D M1MII) for years and I was quite happy with it, especially with its packed-size and "travellability"! Nonetheless, I started to look around for another (better) solution and rented a Sony A7 IV for 1 week on a dive-trip in the mediterranean sea - the result KNOCKED ME OFF!!! I am sure all of you guys already using a FF mirrorless can only laugh of me :-) So, I took the decision to upgrade my gear to a fullframe, mirrorless cam and started searching different options. I am currently struggling between the 3 models: NIKON Z7 SONY A7R IV SONY A7R III I wonder if anyone of you could give me a clue why I should prefer the A7R III or Nikon to the A7 IV (except the additional price-step to take and the higher noise)...! :-) For those of you who'd like to read some pros and cons about the 3 candidates, just read on. For those of you who can give me a hint, feel free to scroll down and type your answer - THANKS!! I've read several forums and comparisons about advantages and disadvantages, some of which I'd like to share with you! Nikon Z7 I have had "hands-on" in a camera-shop. Good "look and feel"-feeling, but nothing really better than the SONY. + proven manufacturer + high-quality products + sensor quality + quick cardslots (XQD) + menu-structure a bit more well-thought than the Sony (not necessarily from my personal point of view, though) + quite a fair price - currently only a few lenses available (except F-mounts with adapter) - generally one or two steps behind in developing mirrorless cams - "only" 1 cardslot (although I cannot imagine this really being an issue in everyday use...) Sony A7R IV I was able to do a 1-week-live-testing with a rented equip. and I was absolutely convinced of this baby! :-) + successfully selling and developing mirrorless fullframes since 2013 + incredibly high pxl: 61MP + rocket-fast autofocus (provided using a GM-lens) + picture quality + highest resolution of viewfinder (5.6 MP vs 3.6 MP on the Z7 and A7R III) + very wide variety / choice of lenses (all possible lengths, types and price-segments) - due to the very high density of pxls on the sensor (50% more pxls on the same area 36x24mms), slightly more noise - ... and maybe some erratic colors (I haven't been able to confirm this issue => anyone an idea?) - the cardslots are not working very quickly, despite the fact that both slots are UHS-II SDXC - Sony is not very known (as far as I know) as a manufacturer in the PHOTO-segment (more in the movie industry) Sony A7R III I have not yet been able to see it live, but I was told that for my purposes, it would serve almost as well as the A7R IV with some compromises. However, its price is remarkably lower... Compared to the A7R IV: + remarkably less pricey + noise and color accuracy are told to be a bit better => can anyone confirm this?? - less resolution (42MP vs 61MP) - viewfinder less resolution (3.8 MP vs 5.6 MP) - slower autofocus Thanks for reading, folks!!

  15. Hi all, At long last, I have posted a review that attempt to try and compare the performance of various wide-angle option for Nikon FX cameras. This is in part due to the frequently recurring threads on the forums about choosing these types of lenses. It is not perfect, nor complete, so it would be great if it could spark some discussion too! http://wetpixel.com/articles/review-nikon-fx-wide-angle-lenses I look forward to being challenged. Adam
  16. This is a complete professional underwater kit. No expense spared. There are $3,000 worth of Nikon lenses and camera in this kit alone. Hugyfot housings are the best on the market and built to last. The rig is in terrific shape and has been well-looked after. I have dived it several hundred times all over the world and never had a leak. The Hugyfot preparatory vacuum and leak alarm system is the best system on the market. An alarm sounds if vacuum pressure is lost so that the camera can be surfaced before water ingress. - Hugyfot D700 Aluminum (HFN-D700) underwater camera housing with flood alarm, vacuum fitting, and 45 degree view finder - Nikon D700 FX SLR camera with two batteries (compact flash card compatible) with original box and manuals - Go Pro Hero 3 camera with two housings (including touchscreen back), remote control, back mount screen, camera top mount and suction cup mount - Backscatter Flip 3.1 filters for the Go Pro - Hahnel Giga T Pro II Remote Control - Zen DP 230, 230mm Dome - Nikon Nikkor 28-300mm 1:3.5-5.6G lens with original shade, dust bag, box and manuals - Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8 lens (pre-VR) with original shade, box, shade and manuals - Nikon AFS Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8G ED lens with original shade, box, shade and manuals - Nikon AFS Nikkor 16-35mm 1:4G ED rectilinear lens with original shade, box, shade and manuals - Tokina At-X Fisheye 10-17 F3.5-4.5 DX (hood modified for Nikon FX standard) - 1.4x Tenko Pro 300 DGX Teleplus - Manfroto Carbon Fibre tripod MKBFRC4-BH - Manfroto 390 MM394 Monopod - Two Inon Z240 strobes with protective neoprene jackets, red night pilot light filters and full daytime filters - Four backscatter ultralight arms and hand adjustment clamps with tuned buoyancy foam - Sola Photo 1200 light (three way top mount) - All Hugyfot ports, fittings and gears for Tokina 10-17mm fisheye, Nikon 105mm, Nikon 60mm and Nikon 16-35mm rectilinear lenses - Comprehensive assortment of spare o-rings, o-ring grease, desiccants, lens papers, maintenance tools and battery chargers - Four sets of eneloop rechargeable batteries with charger - spare housing batteries and vacuum pump batteries - Thinktank padded roll-on luggage suitcase - Lowepro shoulder sling day bag I am not interested in breaking up the rig and selling parts. 18. Hi I am currently using nikon Z7ii and was wondering which choice I should go with between these 2 lenses as I am not quite fond of the 8-15 Fisheye lense. Can anyone give me answers on the following: 1. As we usually shoot around F8 will the 14-24 f2.8s give better corner performance for UWP 2. Which dome produce better photo between 8.5" Arcylic Dome and 180mm Optical glass dome I would really appreciate any suggestions you guys can give me Thank you very much

  24. Looking to sell various dome, ports and extension for a previous Ikelite FL system. It has been unused for about 3 years so want to cleanup the closet and have someone make better use of it. There are obviously scratches on the outside of the plastic, it has been used for about 10 years. All of those were used on D7000 housing with Tokina 10-17, Nikon 12-24, Sigma 105 macro and Nikon 60 macro 5510.45 8" dome - Asking $150 (retail $400). 5510.11 extension (used for Tokina 10-17) - Asking $60 (retail $150) 5510.35 flat front (use for Sigma 105 and Nikon 60) - Asking $80 (retail $200) 5510.22 extension (used for Nikon 60 and Nikon 12-24) - Asking $70 (retail $175) 5510.54 extension (used for Sigma 105) - Asking $50 (retail $125) 5510.28 extension (used for Sigma 105) - Asking $80 (retail $200) I have some extra o-ring 0105 (port) and 0132.41 (dome) that I will happily include in packages. Condition unknown. Additionally, I have a Ikelite 6801.70 D7000 housing that I'm selling for.... $200 ( $1500 retail). It is in working conditions but the tip of the lever for the flash dial got broken, so would need to be replaced (I have never used this lever in 500+ dives). Given the time since last dive, it would need to be sent to Ikelite for maintenance ($200 service fee) and as it is for a D7000, thus the reason I'm only asking $200 for this housing. I'm based in NYC.
