  2. So, I bought one (1) Inon Z330 type 2 strobe a year ago hoping to save up enough money to buy another one once I could justify the expense to my somewhat limited dive travel and photography budget. And just now, ready to take the plunge, found out they were discontinued. I’m looking for one of the same to make a pair, OR, maybe I could sell this one to someone in the same boat? I used this about 5 times on one trip in March trying to teach myself wide angle photography with one strobe. Really need a second strobe!

  9. SUBTRONIC was and still is today the producer and manufacturer of the most “PRO” strobes on the market. The Rolls Royce in Underwater photography Yes, Subtronic strobes are heavier and more expensive strobes than any other strobes, but many pro swear by them for their soft light, color temperature, high power and even distributed light coverage. You needed a lot of money in the past to consider Subtronic strobes and afford it… 1'500$/€ still today for a new one. Here is a UNIQUE opportunity to get 1 or 2 of them, SUBTRONIC NOVA Nikon Analog TTL One of the most powerful UW flash ever made by Subtronic with a power of 270 Ws. The UW guide number is 36 (22 for 2 meters) and an underwater illumination angle of 116 degrees, very even distributed with almost no fall-off. The flash recycle time (minimum/full power) ranges from 0.1 to 2.5 seconds. In addition to a Nikon TTL function (analog Nikon cameras!), the strobe also has 6 manual power levels (only these could be used for digital photography). But who uses TTL for wide angle with these strobes? Honestly, they are not ideal for Macro, but a dream for wide angle and Fish-eye The pilot light in the center of the ring flash tube can be switched to two power levels. The strobe also has a slave flash function, an SOS flash function, a flash-ready indicator and a battery charge level indicator. The battery (as a strobe arm Ø 30mm , separate, which is ideal when traveling by plane) can still trigger 200+ flashes at full power, ensuring minimum of 2 dives if not 3. The flash comes complete with battery arm with 2 Subtronic clamps, with a sync cord (N5-N5 or N5-S6 to choose) , charger, and instruction manual. Price for 1 unit = 400€/US$ Price for 2 units = 650€/US$ (2nd strobe is exactly the same) Shipping worldwide for additional 20€/US$ (1 unit)or 30€/US$ (2 units)

  12. I am getting all of my gear in fighting shape as I hope to get back to shooting underwater. I recently picked up a housing for my R5 and I pulled the strobes out to get them going. I have two DS125s and the battery packs are from 2007. Although they seemed to take a charge they didn't seem to be holding well. I also noticed a little deterioration on one of them which turned out to be the cells leaking a little. Luckily none of the electronics were damaged. Ikelite does not rebuild these anymore but is happy to sell you a new one for $250. I pulled them all apart to find 6 SAFT 3200 sub C 3000 mAh batteries. Searching high and low I struggled to find those exact cells, at least for anything less than $15 a cell. I believe these are now made by ARTS Energy. These are made in France. I ended up choosing cells from Tenergy. These are "made in China" which I was hoping to avoid but I have experience with Tenergy through other hobbies like RC boats and airsoft. I was able to get 15 of the 3000mAh cells from Amazon for $38. i used regular hot melt glue to hold the packs together for assembly. I believe the packs will be mostly held together by the housing once installed. I also bought a spot welder from Amazon for about $60 to attach the tabs. I bought the one from SeeSii based on reviews. It worked really well and went very quickly. I used the nickel tabs that came with the spot welder. They are a little thinner than the original but wider so hopefully it won't affect the current requirements. I tried to research as best I could and I believe the original cells are rated to 40 amp discharge and the Tenergy are either 30 or 38. It has both values listed on the website. I suspect the strobe won't use anywhere near that to charge up. Once I had the tabs installed and checked the fit it was time to solder the electronics to the batteries. I took these pictures with my cell phone and the quality of some are not great so I apologize. I then fit it all back into the case and screwed it back together. i am waiting on O-rings from Ikelite for the switch and the toggle. I charged them up and have them sitting with the focus lights on to drain them down. I tried the strobe function and they seem to charge at least as fast if not a little faster. At 1/2 power they kept up with low speed continuous shutter on the R5. I will add the final assembly details and photos probably next weekend once I get those O-Rings. So far I am about $115 in to both strobes including purchasing the spot welder. A savings of almost $400 over buying new packs.

  14. Have a little build up of gear to try to clear out. Aquatica Extension 18453 Aquatica Extension 18463 Aquatica Extension 18457 Sea & Sea YS-110a x2 - well used, but one of my favorites, includes diffusers Sea & Sea YS-110a x1 - picked it up as a backup, 1 of the 3 flash tubes doesn't fire Sea & Sea YS-D1 - got as part of a pkg buy, don't need Sea & Sea YS-D2 diffusers 120 x2 Sea & Sea YS-D2 diffusers 100 x2 Sea & Sea YS-110a diffuser (extra spare) Spare Retra LSD mounting kit for ys-110a strobe Strobes are older models but take both electrical and fiber, so (in my opinion) they are still very relevant. These ys-110a have honestly been the most reliable strobes I've shot. You won't shoot a fully lit, wide angle reefscape scene but these should suffice for anything outside of that, and possible fully stopped down snooted f/32 shots. Will add pics on request, but send me a msg if you see something of interest and we can work out the prices.
  15. I've got a Seafrogs full frame Sony housing that supports fibre optic cables, and a Sea&Sea YS-D3 strobe. I'm looking to get a cable for this set up. I see that Sea&Sea have three lengths - 310mm, 453mm, and 725mm. Any advice on which length to go for? Price is pretty similar for all three.
  16. Basically brand new. Used twice. They fit Sea&Sea YS-D1, YS-D2 and YS-D2J strobes. I have the YS-D3s now and have no use for them. They've been sitting in a clean stored away area for awhile now and would love to get them to a good home. Selling for $50 for both or $30 apiece. Brand new they are $90 apiece. Thanks! Dan
  17. I am having a cleanout of equipment I am not using and have decided to sell these two strobes. No longer made, the YS120 strobes were Sea & Sea's mid-range offerings and were positioned in between the excellent smaller, but not too powerfull YS90 units and the really excellent and powerfull, but really big YS250's... Roughly equivalent in power to the Ikelite DS160 strobes, the YS120's (like all Sea & Sea strobes) have an excellent reputation for reliability, functionality and usability. I bought the strobes as back-ups to my YS250's and OneUW units - but have never needed and I have too much stuff! As you can see from the images, they are really in excellent condition and, at the price, offer superb value for money. They are great for wide-angle and shooting manually but also support TTL if you have a suitable convertor. I tested them recently with the Nauticam convertor and my Nikon D850 and they worked great! The price for both is $A750 - no offers please... they are a steal! Don
  18. Two strobes for sale. Both are in excellent used condition - being sold as I upgraded to Seacam 160D strobes with HSS capability. Both strobes are the “made in Japan” versions (yellow body rather than the grey “made in China”) even though only one has the J written on the body. These trigger off either a sync cord/ sync cable or fibre optic and can be used in slave mode. Sync cables are Sea & Sea to N5. Price AUD$350 per strobe plus AUD$50 per sync cable. That’s roughly €222 or US$250 per strobe plus roughly €32 or US$36 per sync cable. Buyer pays shipping and any PayPal fees. Happy to ship worldwide.
  19. I am selling my Brand New, Never Used Sea & Sea YS-D1. I acquired it new a while back, but never used it. It has been sitting in the closet so now it's time for it to go to someone that will use it. Price: $325 via PayPal F&F (Pls add 3% for regular PayPal) Shipping to the US Lower 48 States is included Located in South Florida Please see the images. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!
  20. For sale is a used pair of Sea & Sea YS-D2J strobes. Includes the manuals, diffusers (100 and 120 degree), the ball mounts, and the YS mounts, as well as a few tubes of o-ring lube, an extra battery cap and o-ring for the battery cap. I bought these in 2018, and have dove with them ~150 times. Full disclosure: the battery compartment on one of them flooded about 2 years ago. I cleaned it out, replaced the battery cap and o-ring, and haven't had any issues with it since. New these go for $689.95, get the whole kit from me for $800, including shipping in the US.
  21. For sale is a Sea&Sea YS-250 Pro Strobe with 2 batteries, charger, sync cord, lots of extra o-rings and Sea&Sea grease. Works perfectly, never flooded. I'll only ship this in the US 48. $700 + shipping and insurance.
  22. Hey guys Clearing out a drawer I came across a package of spares from my old Inon Z240 strobes which I sold some months ago. Photo attached. Anyone interested? Inon o-ring grease, spare o-rings, various stickers and a couple of what are, I think, the magnets or maybe blanks? I'm not looking for anything for them other than to cover the postage. I can mail reasonably easily to the US; UK and mainland Europe too in slightly slower time.
  23. FOR SALE: Item: Kraken Sports Hydra 3500S+ Video Light Wide / Spot / Red/ UV / Strobe Description: *NEW UPDATE* Kraken Sports just turned the Hydra 3500, into the Hydra 3500 RGB, adding RGB LED’s in addition to everything else so now you have 9 different color options for creative lighting. If you are a macro shooter this is the light for you. This light has flood, spot, red, and UV beams. It also is remote control ready, all you have to do is purchase the Kraken remote and you can control up to two lights without having to remove your hand from your tray. *NEW* Kraken Sports also added their strobe/burst mode to this light. When synced to your camera via fiber-optic cable this will strobe at the same time as your camera at 4500 lumens They have also made the head water resistant. 24. In addition to a software upgrade, Retra have just announced an extra warranty period for their strobes as diving has been so difficult for the last 12 months. Nice one Retra! https://www.retra-uwt.com/blogs/news/retra-flash-prime-pro-firmware-update
  25. I have an Olympus omd e mark II and am having a heckuva time getting the manual setting on the strobe to work.( Sea and sea ys d2). I have to reset the factory default setting on the strobe to “B” which is a feat in itself. I either get strobes that do not change light intensity with the changing of the light meter setting on the strobe or the strobe does not fire on either strobe manual setting (the internal flash does fire) but does fire on ttl. I have consulted many folks and we all are perplexed. Help!
