Never went, but bought the equipment in advance. Finally got back into water last month and found out UW photography takes more concentration and buoyancy skill than I have. I have substantial ear-clearing problems requiring physician consultation/scripts, and which force me to make a lot of depth changes, challenging my fairly rudimentary buoyancy maintenance skills. UW photography is a further complication I just don't need. Best online prices I could find for all these items as of 10/31/21 totaled $2706 + tax. Offering the whole kit for $1,595. Buyer chooses/pays for shipping method.
  2. For sale is a used pair of Sea & Sea YS-D2J strobes. Includes the manuals, diffusers (100 and 120 degree), the ball mounts, and the YS mounts, as well as a few tubes of o-ring lube, an extra battery cap and o-ring for the battery cap. I bought these in 2018, and have dove with them ~150 times. Full disclosure: the battery compartment on one of them flooded about 2 years ago. I cleaned it out, replaced the battery cap and o-ring, and haven't had any issues with it since. New these go for $689.95, get the whole kit from me for $800, including shipping in the US.

  4. I put a snoot on my YS-01. I love it, but struggle because the focus light on the YS-01 is so weak it does not penetrate the snoot. So I'm left guessing where to shoot. The problem is, I want it all.1) A decent strobe upgraded from the YS-01 that I can shoot with a snoot without the guessing of where the light will land. It needs to have a focus light that can penetrate the snoot. I'd love something more powerful to add to my photography equipment.2) The ability to take the snoot on/off so I can use the strobe as a strobe (The FlipSnoots are pretty cool for this)3) Affordable (Affordable is defined as <$700 ideally)Is it a pipe dream? And I know many of you are going to say Backscatter Mini Flash with Snoot, but I can't find the specs on it?I don't think it's any more powerful than my YS-01 so I struggle to drop the coin for upgrading to something with a focus light. I'd rather go all in on something that will upgrade both my strobe and snoot experience. Most of the time my focus is on not snooting, so I'd rather upgrade the strobe with the option to snoot (not the upgrade the snoot with the option to strobe)If there's something that is >$700 tell me about it so I can decide which kid to sell off. (It's a joke...maybe) I hear the Retra strobe is da bomb for a lot of $$$. My eyes have been looking at the inon z330 or Ikelite DS160, but I'm not sure of the snoot ability or focus light situation. TIA
  5. Strobes VS Video Lights - Can underwater video lights be used for underwater photography? A few years ago I was a strong believer that video lights were just not powerful enough, but my opinion on this has totally shifted - Video on the matter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjmYtUQCFOw
  6. Hi, I have got a Seafrogs housing for my Sony a7iii with 16-35mm F4 and the 6" dome port. I have ordered the Sony fe 90mm F2.8 as well. Now I need to get strobes, I was set on the Inon S2000 but they seem underpowered and I want to get it right from the beginning. I am thinking of getting two Inon Z330 because Retras are too expensive. If the recommendation will be the Inon, what should I do with the trigger? It seems the dual synchro cable is expensive vs fibre optic. However then the is turtle trigger option which is also expensive but somewhat a better solution. This lighting is confusing me and I am looking forward to your recommendation. Thanks

  12. I just had my sea & sea ys-d2 strobe die on me and am looking for advice on replacement strobes. I've been looking at the inon z330 and the retra pro. I've talked to a couple of places and haven't gotten much help. One said the reliability of the retra pros is unknown because they are too new and they recommended the inons. Another place said my current ys-d2 strobes were more powerful than the new retra pros, which doesn't seem right. I've also read there's an issue with ttl with the retra pros. Does anyone have insights into the reliability of the inon z330 or the retra pro strobes? I'm interested in all good, bad, and dispelling information about these two strobes or any other strobes I should consider. Delia

  21. Hi guys, I've been doing photography above water for 10+ years, and would like to be able to take photos underwater as well, as I've been diving for 5. I''ve bought the TG-6 and housing combo from Olympus, a WeeFine WFL-02 wide angle wet lens and a tray, to keep it compact and, not spend to much cash. I don't see myself doing alot of macro, topsides I like shooting landscapes and the odd animal, but never super closeup. After reading alot of guides, and watching videos I've come to the conclusion, that I probably won't be satisfied without having some strobes, but I'm having a hard time deciding if I really should spend the cash on strobes or not at this time. Seeing as I'm just starting doing UW photography, I'm worried that the addition of strobes would make everything too complex, but at the same time, I'm worried that the result without having strobes would leave me unsatisfied, or require heavy editing for decent results. So my question is, should I buy strobes or not?

  23. Hi, I own a YS-110 alpha strobe that I use with a filber optic cable but ,now, I would like to have 2 strobes in my setup. I have the possibility to get a second one used for around 130€ or a set of 2 used YS-01 for 520€. The specs look very similar to me (except the possibility to use an electric cable that I don't use anyway). The first option would be, of course the cheapest, but is there a real benefit to choose the second one and sell my YS-110 alpha ? Thanks for your help,
