  2. I'm looking to complete a strobe pair for some jobs coming up and a looking to get either a second Retra strobe or a second Inon Z-240. I purchased one Retra strobe with Ikelite connection for the summer and recently wanted to buy a second one, but learned that they are temporarily discontinued. I also have one Inon Z-240 on hand that I would be happy to pair up instead. Looking for either in good working condition. Let me know how much! Many thanks.
  3. I have a few items for sale. Pictures taken with this equipment are at toddbretl.com and I’ve sold a number of items through this forum before and have never had any complaints (search will show those previous sales). 1. NA-D500 Housing. Very lightly used < 20 dives. I bought it for one trip, planning to sell afterwards. So, I basically considered it a rental and treated it very well. Has the M16 vacuum valve with pump. $3720 New, asking $3220. 2. Reefnet Fiber Optic Snoot for Z-240. Two fiber optics. $125. 3. 1 brand new Z-240 strobe. Never used, won it in a contest. $400 4. 2 used Z-240s. Never flooded or any issues. Original packaging. $300 each. 5. Tokina 10-17 lens. Only ever used underwater, very clean. $270. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like additional photos.
  4. Hi, I have searched a lot for a proper snoot solution for one of my Inon Z-240s and basically I came across three solutions: fiber optic arms something like Inon's own snoot solution (with other manufacturers having additionally a laser aiming light) Retra Which one would you prefer? Currently I am leaning towards the Retra given its flexibility. But how do you store the Retra when you decide to take a picture without it? Also it is really heavy (600g though I don't know how much in water). Regards,

  7. I'm very new to using an underwater strobe and don't really understand how a TTL system works using a fiber optic connection. I've been watching youtube videos explaining TTL in normal cameras connected via a hotshoe with an electronic connection and kind of understand that the camera fires a pre-flash to determine how much power it needs for the main flash. But how does this work with a simple optical trigger? If the camera uses its own pre-flash to trigger a pre-flash in the strobe and then provides corrects the main flash power, how is this information conveyed via the fiber optic from the camera to the strobe? To clarify, does the strobe vary its power according to the amount of light carried via the fiber optic cable? I have a Sony RX100M4 connected to an INON Z-240 (unfortunately there's no manual) via optic cable. Does anyone know if the RX100 uses a preflash when I use the fill flash? Should I put the Advanced Cancel Circuit Switch up or down on the Inon Z-240? Any help would be very appreciated.
  8. Hi, I'm currently searching for a pair of strobes for my Nauticam housing and I'm wondering if I should go for Inon Z-240ies or Sea & Sea YS-D2 (or alternatively YS-D1, although they are more difficult to find these days in Europe). I'm slightly leaning towards the Inon Z-240 (Mark IV) as it can be used with fiber optic sync cords (whereas the YS-D2 would require 5-pin nikonos cords on Nauticam housing) and I read far more posts complaining about the quality of Sea & Sea flashes than Inon's flashes. The YS-D2 would be stronger than the Z-240 (32 vs. 24) but this advantage disappears when using the diffusor to achieve the same angle as the Z-240. So the advantage that remains are the more intuitive controls of the YS-D2. Price is basically the same. Any other thoughts? Thanks in advance!
  9. Hi, I`m from spain, and i want to buy a couple of inon z-240 or a couple of sea&sea ys-d1. Thanks!!

  12. Hello everyone, I’m looking to buy my first underwater photography setup and need some advice to put everything together. On the first place I thought about my Nikon D7100 to take underwater but reality is brutal and whole setup would be very expensive and simply I can’t afford it. I sold camera and all lenses so now I can start from the begging. I’m moving to Thailand Koh Tao for year maybe longer. I’ll do my Instructor internship up there and I would like to have equipment with me to save memories. I would like to do some photography and video. My underwater setup needs to be medium size so is easy to carry and great for everyday usage. Camera: Sony RX100 Mark IV looks really nice is small with good photo specification and awesome video mode. I think is top range compact camera now available on the market. What you guys think about that camera is it worth investing money or something else would be a better choice? Housing: NA-RX100IV (www.camerasunderwater.co.uk) price £764 Ikelite is slightly cheaper but Nauticam looks more solid and safer. Lighting: I think the best configuration would be one flash plus video light. -Flash: What would be a better choice Inon Flash Z-240 Type 4 or Sea and Sea YS-D2 Strobe? Maybe they are other options to consider? I found good deal for both strobes and they are nearly same price at http://www.scubastore.com £420 around for each. Batteries are rechargeable or I need to buy them separately? Video light: I have no clue what to choose I may get a wide angle lens if will get enough money so something with high angle would be great, build in battery charger would be great option too. My budget is up to £450. I would like to buy them from http://www.scubastore.com as they have good price deals on equipment. Arms and Lens: I would like to get arms to hold my lighting for my Nauticam housing I have no idea what I will need so would you suggest something? I read about wet wide lens for that housing would you help me chose to best one for my setup? (That would be optional if will get enough money). Cost: Camera £580, Housing £765, Flash up to £450, Video light up to £450, Arms £xxx (Don’t know) Wide lens is optional so not included. TOTAL: £2245 Should I be considering something else? I really appreciated your help. Many thanks, Kris.
  13. Quick question - Just jumped into my first U/W camera setup after finding a very cheap PT-EP08 for my "backup" camera the E-M5. (I also have the E-M1, but not ready to dunk that just yet). I decided to take a shot on the Z-240 from a Japanese dealer on eBay. Just realized though that I have no idea what kind of cable will be required to connect these two. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks!!

  15. Up for sale is 2 Inon Z-240 strobes in excellent condition. They do not have a lot of dives on them, no scratches, dings, never flooded. Comes with original boxes and paperwork. I would like to sell them as a pair. The only reason I'm selling them is because I'm doing more video and they aren't being used. They work perfectly. $600 Each. Buyer pays all shipping and Paypal fees. Accept Paypal only. Features: High power with Guide Number 24, wide 100 degrees circular beam angle light distribution even without a diffuserINON unique T-shape Twin Flash construction and optimally designed reflecting mirror/prism enable effective light distribution and produce powerful guide number 24 (*1) at wide circular 100° beam coverage without a diffuser from compact body (outer diameter:99mm x depth: 100mm x height: 122mm) (*2) run by only 4 x AA batteries. Even for shooting wide subject, the Z-240 delivers strong strobe light to an entire area without using a diffuser which suppresses strobe power. Packaged -0.5 White Diffuser 2 (TTL/Manual) increases bean angle to 110 degree (guide number 21). With the white diffuser, color temperature of the Z-240 decreases at 100K (Kelvin) only to depict underwater scenery in same color regardless of using the diffuser or not.(*1) Measurement in air/ ISO100m, Nominal value (*2) Excluding protruded parts. Minimum recycle time 1.6 secondsMinimum recycle time at full flash (how fast the strobe is ready to fire just after full flash) is approx. 1.6 sec.(*3). The Z-240 unique circuit components carries two sets of fundamental electrical parts (transformer and transistor) to achieve fast recycle time.(*3) With SANYO Twiicell 2700 Series, HR-3UTG, 1.2V, Min.2,500mAh. Recycle time/flash capacity based on INON test data. Actual values may vary depending on battery manufacturer, battery type etc. and age. Optical connection/electrical connection, digital/film fully compatibleThe Z-240 offers all advanced features including S-TTL Auto mode which supports TTL Auto exposure control by transmitting built-in flash light to an external strobe and compatibility with Clear Photo System. Optical connection system widely supports from transparent housing for compact digital cameras to a housing for digital SLRs with built-in flash regardless of make or model. Its sync connector accepts Nikonos 5 pin type cable to shoot in TTL Auto mode with a film camera or in Manual/External Auto mode with high end digital SLR not equipped with the built-in flash (*4).(*4) Usable function may vary depending on camera system and connection method EV. Controller to adjust exposure of S-TTL AutoIt is simple to fine-tune flash power in S-TTL Auto by dialing the EV Control Switch on the back control panel. Adjustable range is 3 steps to increase and 6 steps to decrease, to suit to personal preference or different exposure control characteristics among camera models. Next generation wireless TTLThe Z-240 Type 4 successfully amplifies receiving optical signal from the slave sensor 20 times more comparing to previous Z-240 Type 3 to provide wireless S-TTL Auto mode using a mirror instead of an optical cable. Attaching optional Wireless Connection Kit on the Z-240 Type 4 and combined with a housing via Shoe Base Set or Grip Base D4 Set creates a handy S-TTL Auto shooting set. 13 step Manual / 24 step External AutoThe Z-240 supports professional needs for sophisticated and precise lighting by its 13 step Manual mode with 1/2EV. increments and by semi-automatic 24 step External Auto mode with 1/4EV. increments which determines strobe output based on onboard sensor. INON unique Advanced Cancel Circuit benefits you with faster recycle time and more images per battery set to eliminate drawbacks when using with a pre-flash type digital camera where the built-in flash always burst full dump. High-intensity 180 lumen power LEDFocus Light with shutter linked auto OFF function Multifunctional Focus Light for supporting focusing as well as for using as an indicator of strobe charge status since it turns on in synch with strobe's ready LED lamp. The Z-240 Type 4 uses high-intensity 180 lumen power LED as Focus Light which is also usable as an independent diving light producing 180 lumen/20° coverage. The Focus Light automatically turns OFF in synch with shutter release where it quenches emitting light at the time of pre-flash under Optical D Cable Connection with a pre-flash type digital camera, so it is never recorded in an image (*5).(*5)Focus Light may be recorded on an image depending on camera system, connection method and shooting condition. Integral pre-flash mode detecting functionFully compatible with a camera like Nikon digital SLR cameras D700/D300/D200/D90/D80 which alter number of pre-flash between once or twice depending on shooting condition making total flashes twice to three times. The Z-240 automatically identifies number of pre-flash to activate adequate program to support proper functioning of External Auto, Manual as well as precise S-TTL Auto mode. Manual + TTL Auto mode for film camerasNewly introduced flash mode for hard wired film camera to pre-set maximum flash power in TTL Auto exposure to compensate the weakness of the TTL Auto mode. Conventional TTL Auto may not get along with a particular situation like shooting a swimming fish without colorful back ground where TTL Auto could deliver full damp resulting from TTL error. The Manual + TTL Auto mode can avoid this problem by manually setting necessary flash output for a subject to stop firing at pre-set flash amount in case of TTL error happens and benefit you to drastically reduce overexposed images.
  16. I am selling my two Inon Z-240 Underwater Strobe (Type 4, the latest model). The strobes are in excellent condition and comes with the original box, user manuals, spare o-rings, a tube of grease and a strobe diffuser. In the sale for each strobe, I will also include lots of extras: • 1 inch diameter ball mount for attachment to Inon, TLC, Ultralight, Nauticam and other 1 inch diameter ball arms. • Inon Fiber Optical D Cable (Retail £79.99), brand new! • Inon Z-240 Strobe Cover (Retail € 29.00), brand new! Difficult to get hold of in the UK. • Eneloop batteries plenty of life left in them and recommended by Inon to be used in conjunction with the Inon Z-240 Strobes. Note: I have only one Eneloop battery charger so the buyer that buy the first strobe will get the charger included. I am selling each strobe with all the extras for £450. This strobe is fantastic and has never let me down. It has a beautiful even spread of light and for any sample pictures taken using this strobe please see my website; ekallstom.com. The strobe without any of the extras retails for £595 at Underwater Visions. The strobe diffuser has a small crack in it (see picture) but this does not at all hamper its function. If it annoys you then you can pick up a new one at Underwater Visions for £25.00. For any technical information please see Inon webpage and for a review visit Underwater Photography Guide. I have recently sold my Subal 5D Mark III Underwater housing and sadly my Underwater Photography career is put on hold as I have bought a new property that is in need of renovation. Buyer is welcome to come and view and collect the item in person. I am based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, United Kingdom. Shipping with Royal Mail Special delivery would cost approximately £9 (UK only). I can also ship items internationally but postage costs and custom fees have to be paid by the buyer. Please contact me to discuss shipping options and costs. If you have any questions do not hesitate to send me a PM.

  20. This a custom designed fiber snoot system for Z-240 and D-2000 flashes. What sets this system apart from the current commercial units available is the fact that it has 3 optical lines, two for each flash tube and a third for the LED modeling light. Using a snoot without a modeling light is a tricky "hit and miss" experience to what already is a difficult task of aiming your lights on small subjects, especially super-macro shots. This system breaks down for travel and can be used as a standard flash underwater with a twist of the locking system. I used this system with 3 Z-240's, one on each side for normal lighting and the 3rd with the snoot sitting center on a mount that allowed me to simply tilt the optical snoots forward for special lighting and than out of the way for regular fill flash (see photo below). If I needed a lot of light for wide angle work, I could easily twist the outer hub off the unit with the fiber cables, clip them to my BCD and use the Z-240 snoot flash for added fill. You could do the same with two strobes or even a single strobe set-up if you wanted to shoot regular fill flash and have a snoot when you needed it. It simply pushes onto the rear part of the unit attached to the flash the flash and locks in place with a twist. Having a modeling light telling you where your light is going to fall makes it an enjoyable experience. Larger optical cables are used to transmit more light efficiently. I could get good exposures at f32 if need be, but usually shot at about f11 the sweet spot. The optical cables simply screw onto the the front faceplate. The rear section attached with the same screws you use with your Inon diffusers (they're attached with a c-clip, like the Inon diffusers, so you don't have to worry about losing them). I'm selling because I'm paring my system down for a more compact travel rig. Save your money and get a better snoot system at less than than half the price of a Reefnet 2 cable system. Snoot housing and 3 optical cables for $275 THe Z-240 is strictly for demo purposes and does not come with the snoot. The long mount rod which I use for the tilt system is included. Shipping $12.35 for USPS falt rate to anywhere in the US. PM me and/or send an email to mcolleypublic@gmail.com Happy diving, Marshall <script src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/8d764284/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js" type="text/javascript"> </script>

  22. Anybody have experience with the CM Diffusers by AquaTerraImagery? I use Inon Z240 and often wonder if I may achieve better Edge (no pun intended Martin) lighting with a convex diffuser? Inon only manufacture the flat diffusers, but I have just discovered the CM Diffuser at http://cmdiffusers.bigcartel.com Any thoughts would be appreciated... Cheers Rod.
