  1. Shot with Sony A1 in Nauticam housing with 90mm macro lense. Video shot during a photo workshop in Anilao. Turn the quality up to 2160p if you can.
  2. I finally got a gallery posted of some of my images from our Philippines trip earlier this year. I guess one good thing about staying at home is there is a lot of time to process images! We spent 2 weeks there, 5 days diving in Anilao and the rest over in Puerto Galera. I will hopefully post the Puerto Galera shots soon but here is the link to the Anilao gallery. https://www.elsasserphotography.com/Galleries/Anilao-2020/ All taken with the following gear Olympus em1 mk2 Nauticam housing 2 x YSD2 strobes Olympus 60mm macro lens (except for the seascape shot) I have been very happy with the EM1 MK2 underwater for underwater macro subjects. Thanks for looking, any comments or critiques are very welcomed.
  3. Hi, Im heading to Anilao, would it be wise to take with me fish eye lenses and 8inch dome ports? Would it be a waste of luggage space of can be of necessity there? Please guide.
  4. My new video of small critters from the Lembeh Strait and Anilao. Filmed with a Panasonic GH4 in a Nauticam NA-GH4 housing with either 2 x Keldan Luna 4X lights or 2 x FIX Neo 1000 DX SW II lights. I used an Olympus M.Zuiko ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ lens and a Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 macro lens. On some shots I used a Nauticam Compact Macro Converter CMC-1. Xit404 tripod. The UHD footage was downsampled to 1920x1080, allowing me to crop and zoom. Only the wonderpus shot was stabilized. All feedback is welcome. Particularly, are there any weak shots, or uncomfortable edits? I may submit a refined version to a festival or two.
  5. Hello all, I was fortunate to get my hands on a 1dx mark II a few weeks ago, along with an underwater housing for it. Did a last minute trip to the Philippines to test this out. It is a short video, and I did a mix of macro and wide angle. I used the 100mm F2.8L and some shots with a +10 diopter on it. For Wide angle I used the 16-35mm F4L. Make sure to choose 4k on the playback options. Or Vimeo I severely underestimated what the move to 4k was going to bring. The amount of resources both from a speed and storage standpoint is massive. After 40 dives, I came back with about 3.5TB worth of data. Almost all of these shots were shot 4k and 60p, played back at 30p. Let me know what you think! Enjoy, Dustin
  6. The first and second workshops were a huge success, so we're headed back to Crystal Blue Resort in Anilao from March 2-12, 2016. Hope you can join us for some of the best critter diving in the Philippines. You can view some of the images from the 2nd workshop here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.930857840295029.1073741825.122733201107501 For more information please visit our website: http://underwatercolours.com/anilao_photo_workshop.html Contact Bonnie Pelnar for more information.
  7. A clip of my recent trip to Anilao in May. It was shot on my GH4 and I uploaded it in 4K but unfortunately YouTube has done a pretty poor processing job at lower resolutions especially on the Anthias at about 0:21 https://youtu.be/qQ6rM6QViVg I experimented with some small zooms and pans in post. The one of the pink frogfish might be a little overdone but the others seem to have worked out OK. What do you think? Cheers Steve
  8. Here are some of our favorite Anilao dive sites... Coconut, Arthurs, Daryl Laut, Bethlehem, etc. Shot via drone this May. Aerial Views of Anilao Enjoy this new perspective on our favorite macro destination in the Philippines!
  9. A very short macro video of saddleback clownfish, Amphiprion polymnus, tending to their eggs at Bethlehem near Anilao. Shot with the with my Panasonic GH4 in a Nauticam NA-GH4 housing. I used an Olympus M.Zuiko ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ lens. I can't wait to get my Olympus 60mm macro lens on some clownfish eggs. I'm really enjoying the panning/cropping/zooming capability that the 4K gives me when publishing in 1080p. The most close-up shot here (at 0:43) is just a straight crop down to 1080p.
  10. Not quite sure what happened here... Wanted to try something different and it turned into this pompous piece. Coleman shrimps (Periclimenes colemani), urchin shrimps (Allopontonia brockii), and zebra crabs (Zebrida adamsii) live and travel on fire urchins (Asthenosoma varium) in Anilao, Philippines. Shot with my Panasonic GH4 in a Nauticam NA-GH4 housing. I used an Olympus M.Zuiko ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ lens and 60mm f2.8 macro lens. Err... feedback welcome... I think...
  11. A silly little video of a small school of saddleback clownfish, Amphiprion polymnus, in the shallows in Anilao, the Philippines. Shot with my Panasonic GH4 and Olympus 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 ED M.Zuiko EZ lens in Nauticam housing. First underwater video I've published that was shot since 2008.

  18. Last month we made our second trip to Anilao - this time with a group of 15 photographers! Anilao as always delivered the goods with plenty of critters and some good wide angle opportunities too! Credit has to go to Anilao's guides though - they make the destination world-class allowing long bottom times and finding all the critters so we can fire away with our cameras! There's a full trip report plus the results of our Anilao photo competition on our website Here's one of our favourites!

  20. My girlfriend and I are considering a 2+ week trip to the Philippines this Sept/Oct. Will be the 1st time for both of us. Was thinking Anilao and then a more Pelagic friendly destination. Few questions for people in the know: 1) Is it OK to go and dive this time of the year? It seems that this will be during the monsoon season... Is it miserably wet? Is vis affected too much? 2) Can anyone recommend any good resorts? Seems like Club Ocellaris is the place to be in Anilao... 3) What Pelagic site would be best this time of year? Malapascua looks good... September was mentioned as "Manta Month" in 1 article I read. Thanks for any help! Jay
  21. Has anyone stayed at either Club Ocellaris or Aqua Ventures in Anilao? Thinking of going in about a month, so will still be the wet season there. Any color regarding the quality of diving, accomodation, and food would be appreciated. Do their locations limit their diving in anyway relative to other resorts in the area given geography or weather? Trying to decide between these two but if you have any other thoughts on other resorts, would appreciate that as well. Thanks!
