Hi, I recently bought the Marelux SOFT snoot and am debating if I should return it for a set of backscatter MF-2 strobes and snoots so that I have the ability to do remote lighting. Has anyone tried to do remote lighting with any other strobes? (I think you would have to manually adjust strobe settings but several strobes have an optically triggered sensor. I just don’t know if it works well for macro) Can any strobe trigger the MF-2 remotely? Does anyone prefer to use video lights for backlighting/side lighting instead of strobes? On the other hand, has anyone used the SOFT and found that the ability to use the iris control to shape the light is far superior to the aperture cards used on most other snoots? Any other thoughts comparing the two snoots are also welcome. Thanks! Jill

Below is a link my latest video about our scuba diving adventures in Anilao in May 2023. Anilao, a renowned diving destination in the Philippines, captivated us with its underwater wonders and warm hospitality. Our two-week stay at Buceo Anilao Divie Resort was filled with excitement and discovery. The resort, situated on a hill, provided breathtaking ocean views from our comfortable superior room. The resort's amenities catered very well to the needs of underwater photographers and videographers. The following is information about my underwater video equipment used to shoot all footage for this video: Camera: Sony camcorder PXW Z90 Camera Settings: 4K, 30 FPS Picture Profile: PP4 Housing: Gates AX700 / Z90 with Gates GP34A Wide Angle Port and internal UR Pro Red Filter Video Lights: Backscatter MW 4300 Drone: DJI Mavic 3 Pro I recently switched from FCPX to DaVinci Resolve Studio; and, as such, this is my first video made using DaVinci Resolve 18.5, and I will appreciate any constructive criticism about this video. If you liked this video, don't forget to give it a LIKE and show us your support. And, if you want to stay up to date with all of our latest adventures, hit the SUBSCRIBE button on the Diver's Lens YouTube channel. We can't wait to take you on more exciting journeys and share our love for the ocean and its amazing creatures with you. Thank you for watching and we hope to hear from you soon!

I really recommend Isotta Housings. Very good customer service. Italian-made aluminum housings are compact, meticulously engineered, and ergonomic. Thanks Thomas from Backscatter Underwater Video & Photo for your advice about my housing : Isotta's housing plus Nauticam wet wide lens. I have tested it underwater and the result is great. No vignetting at wide open 28mm. Corner sharpness is quite good ( Better than 16-35 with glass dome port but not equal WACP). In addition, in the single dive I can shoot both macro and wide angle. It’s a great solution. Thanks Mr.ChrisRoss for your advice about contact the Isotta factory.

Complete lightweight, compact kit. All items are new or used once, on 10/28/21. Items used on 10/28/21 all worked fine. Fantasea FRX100 VI Limited Edition housing for Sony RX100 VI & VII cameras -- used once, original packaging Backscatter bs-fa double handle tray w/wing nuts for Go Pro and compact cameras -- used once 2 Loc Line flex arms, 12" long, 3/4" wide with YS adapter ends -- used once 2 Backscatter MF-1 Mini-flash underwater strobes -- new in original packaging Backscatter OS-1 optical snoot with aperture cards for Backscatter MF-1 strobe -- new in original packaging 3 Nitecore 18650 and Q2 Li-Ion rechargeable batteries and rapid charger for MF-1 strobe -- new, some original packaging 2 Backscatter universal fiber optic cables (Sea&Sea type) -- used once, original packaging Kraken Hydra-3500+S-RGB video light -- used once, original packaging Bluewater BWP-Macro +7 wet macro lens with 67mm thread -- used once, original cushion case (no cardboard packaging) Kraken KRL-12 compact wet wide lens with 67mm thread -- used once, original cushion case and instruction sheet Why I'm selling: Signed up for UW photography instruction trip in 2020, just before lockdown. Never went, but bought the equipment in advance. Finally got back into water last month and found out UW photography takes more concentration and buoyancy skill than I have. I have substantial ear-clearing problems requiring physician consultation/scripts, and which force me to make a lot of depth changes, challenging my fairly rudimentary buoyancy maintenance skills. UW photography is a further complication I just don't need. Best online prices I could find for all these items as of 10/31/21 totaled $2706 + tax. Offering the whole kit for $1,595. Buyer chooses/pays for shipping method.

Kit comprises TG5 housing PT 059, Backscatter M52 wide angle lens and AOI UMG 01 Magnifier viewer. A really great kit for getting started underwater with the great TG5 (when we are allowed to!) and the wide angle lens lets you get close and capture all of those colours. Viewer/magnifier I have found essential for framing and focusing on the screen with my old eyes Used only once as I now use an EM10 £450 plus postage - camera not included

I just got a quote for servicing a Nauticam housing for the Olympus E-M1 mk2 from Backscatter and its $600, half of it for labor. I’ve had other housings serviced and I don’t recall the price being that high. Have I just been shooting on the cheap or what?

This went on one set of dives with me in the Cayman Islands. I decided that I love underwater photography so much that I am going to anty up and go with a more professional rig. Here is a link to the Backscatter page... https://www.backscatter.com/group/Panasonic-LX10-Underwater-Housing It was Backscatter's compact camera pick of the year and I completely understand why. Keldan Video Lights in Excellent Condition They just over 2 years old and now have less than 20 dives on them. I recently used them on 6 dives in Indonesia for a Manta Video (last week) and now will no longer need them as they will not get used until late next year. So rather than storing them I am posting them here. The original batteries are still in excellent condition and hold a full charge so you still get the 55min- 2.5hr burn time. These are the modular version so you are able to update the video heads as Keldan releases new technology. Cost $4200 + new Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You can check the specs with Backscatter where they were originally purchased. Package comes with: Asking $2095 USD for - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Lights - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Batteries (Original Batteries) - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Ball Clamps - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Chargers ---- If you are interested in two spare batteries (bought one month ago and have been charged once) for a total of 4 batteries Package above (+) $700 USD = $2795 - 2X Keldan Luna 8 Batteries (used once - basically brand new - Paid $880 a month ago) ----- I have sold other items on Wetpixel here like an aquatic 5DMKIII housing and Flouro Diving Kit I will accept Paypal Only. ----

Aloha All, I have a Macromate close-up lens that I will be putting on ebay unless anyone here wants it. I originally used it on the older Ikelite housing with the clear port for a Canon 100mm macro. It worked great. When I moved up to the new black ports I had to grind the “U” shape out of the extension to fit the part where the two pieces come together. You can see this in the photos. So this will work on the old clear port for the 100mm or the black glass port. The following is from Backscatters website about this product……. “Extreme Macro Get incredibly sharp 2:1 (twice life-size) macro images with the underwater removable MacroMate lens for underwater SLR housings. The MacroMate doubles your 100mm or 105mm image size by allowing you to get closer to the subject. Sealed Achromatic Glass Optics Custom achromatic lenses are sealed in a glass optical housing and provide extreme magnification with incredibly sharp edges. This unique design produces much tighter and sharper images than simple close-up lenses that are exposed to water. The air sealed chamber maximizes the optical properties of the close-up lens without distortion or soft edges. The MacroMate is designed for a snug fit on the lens and when not in use, the photographer can quickly flip the lens up and out of the way. This is just the Macromate close-up lens. The port is NOT included. Specifications Optics: Multi-coated acromatic lenses sealed in an optical glass housing Magnification: 2:1 (2x lifesize) Hardware: Custom machined delrin adapter with stainless fasteners Weight in Air: 1.55 lb / 24.8 oz (most designs) Weight in Fresh Water: 0.56 lb / 9 oz (most designs)” You can see more about this on the Backscatter website. They sell them for $599.00. The first person with $300.00 plus $15.00 shipping will get this one. Let me know if you have any questions. David Fleetham david@davidfleetham.com

Hi everyone! I had a great dive a couple of weeks ago at Zabargad, in the south of the Egyptian part of the Red Sea. A couple of Longimani showed up and circled us for a while. True to their usual MO, they stayed on the side that the sun came from. I was in the water with equipment for small stuff, which didn't help in getting close to them either. OM-D EM-5 in a NA-EM5 case, with a 45mm Panasonic lens (and two D2000/S2000 strobes that I didn't use and a Nauticam SMC-1, which I didn't use either... ) The action was fantastic, but visibility wasn't amazing at all unfortunately - if you have any editing tips that might improve this a bit I'd be extremely grateful. I ended up with these pictures: JPG from camera: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Lak_nZWziOMl9xVlo3ZTJFNm8/view?usp=sharing RAW from camera: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Lak_nZWziOa28zcV9FYVlqUWM/view?usp=sharing Edited shot that took me around 2 hours with the spot removal tool:

Hello everyone my name is Chris. I've been diving since 2006 and just bought my first dedicated underwater camera. I'm starting with a GoPro Hero 3 Silver edition. I'm doing my Master's thesis on trophic transfer of Mercury in reef communities which makes me a regular diver down in Long Key, FL. I'm curious about red filters and would appreciate any feedback you guys might have. Currently I'm looking at three very different lenses. The base price one is by PolarPro (http://www.polarprofilters.com/shop/goprohero3redfilter/), the mid grade by Backscatter (http://www.backscatter.com/sku/bs-gp-h3-flip.lasso), and the premium priced option by Snake River Prototyping (http://snakeriverprototyping.com/shopblurfix3so.html). Right now I'm leaning toward the Backscatter brand's model mainly due to the reasonable price, the ability to easily rotate the filter away, and some of the comparison videos I've seen. If you guys have any suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks! Chris
