  1. Hi everyone, This year I made a short film advocating for shark conservation, and I worked with shark conservationists Cristina Zenato in the Bahamas and Jim Abernethy in Florida to tell their personal stories, as well as my own. I showed it at Aperture Gallery in NYC in May, and as part of the official selection of the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in NYC in October. Would love for you guys to check it out and tell me what you think! www.vimeo.com/juliabahlsen/cageless Julia
  2. I know this isn't still photography, but it's imagery! I wanted to share this short film that my husband and I made in Tangkoko Nature Reserve (focusing on Spectral Tarsiers & Celebes Macaques) while taking a break from diving on the northern end of Sulawesi, Indonesia. https://vimeo.com/217809929
  3. Hey Guys, I started reviewing some of my camera gear and posting them to youtube. Let me know what you think! Cheers, Jeremy
  4. New to the boards AND to diving. As a professional freelance cinematographer and burgeoning diving enthusiast, I am asking the obvious question: should I expand my freelance services into underwater video? Anyone have any professional experience, advice, or info on this? I am wondering how crowded the field is for a freelancer, and how many jobs may actually be available? And, what sort of jobs they usually are (rec diving VS tech diving, etc.) It sounds like the GoPro has largely hurt this industry, but I am wondering if there is still much (or any) work left in it? I would not be relying on it as a career, rather an expansion of my own already existing services. Even $15k a year worth of gigs could be enough to justify involvement... but I am wondering if even that is feasible? This isn't an immediate thing for me - I know I am going to need a great deal more dive experience first until I would look into this. But when that time comes, I am wondering the process to get plugged into the industry and what I might expect, any steps I can take in the meantime to prepare (if it is even worthwhile)? Thank you!

  6. Just acquired a mint condition Nikonos RS. I'm pretty happy after my first few dives. Just wanted to see if anyone else out there was shooting this camera and could share any thoughts or advice. I shoot film on land so figured why not stick with it underwater as well. I just like to be different. -J
