  2. Now for a video light review! I have the Nautieye NE22 light for review today. This light is a multi function light that can be used as a video light, a snoot (not with a snoot attachment, just a focused beam), red, blue, or combined red and blue. Each selection can also be adjusted in light intensity. I did a video review of the light and features here: he only published specs on burntime where video light(1800 lumen) 60 mins and spot (300 lumens in a 5 degree spot) 120+ mins. My results were as follows: Mode High Power Low Power Video 1hr 25min 6hrs 27min Spot 5hr 12mins 21hrs 57min Red 6hr 53 mins 20hrs 46min I did not test blue only since it should match the red times, and I don't know anyone who runs blue and red so did not run that test. Real test numbers on this are quite a bit better than published. I am told the battery on this is a genuine Panasonic and I tend to believe it is based on my test of it. It is a 5000Mah battery and when i tested it with discharge it came out to 5218Mah. I have never shot with a red focus light so I wanted to get this and see how that works out for keeping the critters from running. This will also let me try out some snoot type blackwater shots. It is quite convenient for me to mount up on a cross arm with either a single ball clamp or a flex arm that lets me get the light out and over a macro subject. If you remove the ball joint it does have a tail connector you can attach a boltsnap or lanyard(included) and use as a handheld dive light giving you multiple lighting capabilities. It is however, intended as a photo/video light. I also wanted to try out this light's auto off functions for shooting with this in red light mode. There is a sensor that detects a flash and shut the focus light off so that no red highlights are seen in the image being shot. I tested this out and it worked just like it was supposed to. I have several images that cant be uploaded due to tiny attachment limitations but if you head over to scubaboard you can see a similar post with all of the test images for each setting. Pros ⦁ Small form factor, easy to use mounted without adding much weight, and small enough to be used as a hand held ⦁ Long burn times ⦁ The ability to do macro snoot type work without the extra gear ⦁ Many functions in one light Cons ⦁ The video light has a slight greenish hue to my eye. That is easily correctable in RAW images, video takes a bit more work. ⦁ There are multiple functions and LED's for each which creates some unevenness in the light falloff pattern. This is most noticeable in the red and blue as seen in the pictures. I do not expect this to be much of an issue though. I have worked out discounted pricing with Nautieye. The MSRP on this light is 299. I can offer it at a discount at 259 buyer pays shipping. If there is enough interest in this light I can place an order.

  4. I went to a smaller set-up and no longer need. I had 3 dives with it. Great for macro and video! Selling as used, but is in immaculate condition! The new FIX Neo Mini 1000 SW, The perfect compact video lighting companion. This new iteration of the Neo Mini features a video pleasing 1000 lumens of white light in a 95° beam angle providing great coverage for today’s wide-angle lenses. A single press of the Neo Mini’s control button and the beam angle switches to a 25° spot beam to isolate the lighting pattern for dynamic macro results. The Neo Mini is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery system that can be swapped with a fully charged battery between dives. Dive ready at a minuscule 160g, the Neo Mini rounds out with an automatic shut-off feature when a strobe flash is detected, SOS mode and distress mode. All-together, the FIX Neo Mini 1000 SW is the perfect lighting solution to any video genesis. The FIX Neo Mini 1000 SW has a beautiful 95° wide beam cast in even arching smooth beam with no hotspots or edge drop-off. Spot mode made easy! Just a single press of the Neo’s control button and Neo’s beam angle switches from 95° to 25° 600 lumen spot beam, perfect for macro video. The Mini’s narrow spot beam works to isolate small subjects from their background. Leaving the background of your composition unlit and dark provides excellent contrast to highlight the foreground subject. FIX Neo Mini 1000 SW specifications Lumens: 600 Spot/1000 Wide BurnTime (min): 100 Spot/90 Wide Beam Angle: 25° Spot/95° Wide Charge Time: 2.5–4 hrs Swappable Battery: Yes Adjustment: 25% steps Depth Rating: 100m Weight: 160g (air) Mounts Included: YS SOS Signal: Yes Model Number: 30395 MSRP: $299 USD
  5. My Sola 600 is acting up so I'm in the market for a new focus light. When I bought the Sola back in 2011 it was considered to be "the" focus light to get. Now I'm wondering what the current thinking is on focus lights. I only need it for photography so don't care about video light capability. It would be great to get some feedback on what people like.
  6. I'm having a clear out of gear I no longer use. So one ULCS bracket with usual 1" ball mount to hold a small, UK Mini focus light with is part of the deal. Bracket and torch (uses AA batteries) for £20 plus postage. Bargain! PM me for more details

  10. Hi I have a problem in that my Fantasea Nano focus light doesn't seem to be syncing correctly with the Inon S2000 strobe. Today, using just the one strobe, in pretty poor vis with lots of silt, using close focus wide angle, i kept getting a hot spot from the focus light. I've attached an example. I placed my strobe vertically about a foot above the camera facing straight forward, used Manual mode, and the Nano was attached on the cold boot attachment on top of the Inon converter for WA wet lens, and was focused immediately down in front. As you can see it has lit up the shot with a very definite hotspot. I did visually check on the dive to make sure it was actually turning off and it seemed to, but clearly either it didn't 'see' the strobe for some reason, or it's turning off too late. Maybe I need a 'better' focus light, or maybe I'm positioning everything wrongly....the strobe power was clearly a bit low for the conditions too, but it was working....and even if too low, the photo could be photoshopped to expose better and bring out highlights more...it's the bright light I'm concerned about. I'd welcome any advice!
  11. hi folks, My old Sola 600 photo light is getting meaner and meaner with me. The charging contacts are extremely difficult to connect with, and after i charged for hours and left all indicators green, when i turned on the light it started blinking red!!! Too bad, so i am looking for another light, and it won't be a Sola. The recent announcements on wetpixel front page about several Fisheye FIX Neo light models caught my attention, in particular those two: -Fix Neo 1500 DX SWR: 599 USD -Fix Neo 1000 Mini WR: 299 USD Two very different price tags i know, but i am not sure yet how much i am ready to spend. Fix Neo 1000 Mini WR The cheaper one seems to match quite well the specs of my Sola 600, except: -the red light that is only 100 lumen (Sola had 250 lumen), i am thinking it's too low. If i were still shooting on Nikon D7000 OK, but this nice little Olympus OMD-EM5 doesn't have such a strong autofocus... -the ASO (auto shut-off) feature seems interesting, but i am not sure i like it: yes it would be nice to avoid the light's lighting to ruin strobe positioning efforts, but at the same time, this turns off the light for 1 second, i am wondering whether this would be annoying, i don't realize how long it seems in real life. Also, i am wondering how the battery holds between 2 charges (i usually dive once a week, and don't want to be re-charging the light each time). Fix Neo 1500 DX SWR Just looking at the specs, this light is a killer! It has all i need, plus the choice of keeping your light sealed while you charge (like the Sola) or to swap batteries for more flexibility... I am surprised it doesn't include the ASO feature, but since i am not sure i like it, that's not a deal breaker. So specs are great, but i have no clue on the usability of such a dive light: how easy is maintenance (when you swap battery), o-rings greasing each time? Feels safe or is it a single/scary exposed o-ring? What about manipulations underwater? And a question that applies to both lights: how reliable are the battery statuses? As you understood, this is the pain point on my current light, i cannot trust it at all. So i would really enjoy reading any experience you may have on those lights, or on other lights of that same range if they share similar designs. thanks Nicolas
  12. LMI Sola 1200 Dive/Video Light with spot & flood beams, complete with hand strap, Ball Mount & LocLine Mount, plus charger and case. Used but still working great with decent battery life. $400 plus shipping costs from Thailand PM or email alex@dive4photos.com for more info or to purchase.
  13. Hello all, For sale is my under-used (5 dives only!) mirrorless system built around the Olympus E-PL2 in its native Olympus PT-EP03 housing. Due to several life changes over the years I no longer have to the time to go diving, so the system better goes off to a new home this summer. As individual components the set is worth much more, but I would like to sell it as a complete package because that's how it is the most useful. The complete package is on sale for £900. The package comprises the following: Olympus E-PL2 camera, full kit, boxed14-42mm kit lens, flawless optics, with front and rear caps 2 original Olympus batteries 1 third party battery (Hähnel) charger (will ship with UK or European plug as desired) manuals software CDs strap etc... Olympus PT-EP03 underwater housing, boxed, full setstandard flat port front cap zoom ring for 14-42mm lens ZEN WA-100-EP Zen Dome portfront cap rear cap Fantasea Blue Ray tray (with instruction leaflet) Sea & Sea YS-01 strobe, setfibre optic cable flex arm Nano 8-LED focus light + flex arm accessories like o-ring grease, screws etc.. Everything comes in their original boxes (with everything that I originally received as well). The items have been used, but are all in great condition. The underwater components have been used on only 5 dives and a few times snorkelling. They are all absolutely flawless, e.g. dome port is in "as new" condition. I do look after my stuff very well and it shows. The dome port was bought with a plan to add the Olympus 9-18mm wide angle lens, for which it is a perfect optical match. This is a great package for anyone who wants a complete system that's ready to dive today! I'm open to sensible offers, but buyer pays postage and Paypal charges. Local pickup in Plymouth (daytime) or Lostwithiel/Cornwall (evenings/weekends) preferred.
  14. LMI Sola Photo (with 3-Level Red) 600 & 800. Used condition, but all working fine retaining decent battery life. Comes complete with Ball Mount, Charger & Bag. Sola Photo 600 - $200 Sola Photo 800 - $250 PM or email alex@dive4photos.com for more info or to purchase. Postage from Thailand to be paid by buyer
  15. Hello! I am looking for a new focus light, and I was curious if any of you had any info about the new lights on the market. I had initially planned on getting a sola, but with some of the new options out there, I am wondering if my money would be better spent elsewhere. I do like the idea of a wide beam light, since I would like to shoot some limited video using the light as well. Anyway, here are the lights I have been looking at, along with links to the manufacturers page... Sola Photo 1200 $699 http://www.lightandmotion.com/underwater/sola1200p.html 1200 lumens, 70 minutes on full power, nonswappable batteries, has spot and flood beam, built in red light This is tried and true, but I wish it had replaceable batteries so I could swap them out after a few dives rather than having to recharge. Fix Neo 2000 Dx $749 http://www.fisheye-jp.com/english/products/light/fe_neo/index.html Light has removable batteries, digital readout of minutes of light remaining at any given power level, 100% variable output level, beam about 100 degrees, 60 min run time at 2000 lumens, available flip filter adapter to change color temp of light and switch to red, light is pretty blue, spare batteries are available but expensive (but not as much as RGBlue) I really like the techy feel of the fix neo, and although it's not really needed, I do like the LCD saying "you have x minutes of light remaining." Replacement batteries are available, too, but they are also expensive - just not quite as expensive as the RGBlue. The color temp of this light looks very blue-white, which may or may not matter that much. I do like the clip on flip adapter for the red or warmer light filters RGBlue System01 $750 http://www.rgblue.jp/en/products/system01/ high CRI light with natural light color, single plane light emission to eliminate "multi-shadow effect," 100 degree beam, up to 2200 lumens (1-100% power adjustable), replaceable batteries (expensive!), only 35 minutes burn time at full power, but 50 minutes at 1800 lumens, can use a condenser to have 60 degree beam, or attach a red light filter for red I really like the shadow control and natural light appearance of the RGBlue, but I am concerned about the abysmal battery life - though I understand the reason for the low battery life, and might be willing to accept it. Of course, replacement batteries are painfully expensive. i-Torch Video Pro6 $599 http://www.itorch.ca/i-torch-video-pro6.html Light has 2400 lumens, runs on removable 36250 li-ion batteries (much cheaper to keep spares on hand!), 60 minute burn time on full, has built in white/red/UV LEDs, 3 levels of white, 2 levels red, 1 level UV, 120 degree beam angle, color indicator of remaining battery life on switch This is a lot cheaper, but it lacks the 1-100% adjustable light level (which I like, in theory - my prior lights never had this feature). I don't really know anything about i-Torch as a brand. I like the cheap replaceable batteries. I like the red and UV light being built in! FIT 2400 LED WSR (White/Spot/Red) $420 http://www.fun-in.com.tw/oc/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1696 (not the manufacturer link - couldn't find this one) http://www.fun-in.com.tw/share/documents/fit/UwP73_FIT_LED2400.pdf (review at UWP mag) most wallet friendly! 2400 lumens, 120 degree flood or 15 degree spot, red and white lights built in - can run both at same time to adjust color temp, 60 minutes burn time on full, uses cheap replaceable batteries, battery life indicator on switch or FIT 2400 UV version $600 http://www.fun-in.com.tw/oc/index.php?route=product/product&path=95_30_199&product_id=1689 essentially the same as the WSR above, except it can do white, red, purple, and UV light - not sure if it still has a spot mode or not, 2400 White / 200 Red / 6W Purple / 10W UV Seems to be very similar to the i-Torch as far as advantages - multiple light sources in 1 body, with cheap user replaceable batteries. The UV version of the FIT seems like a good comparison to the i-Torch So...any thoughts on these lights from you guys? I am somewhat leaning towards the i-Torch or the FIT lights, since they have cheap replaceable batteries, and they are cheaper overall than the Sola, Fix, or RGBlue. That said, each of the more expensive lights have some good things going for them, too. Please help!

  20. I have a never used YS-01 that I bought for a fill flash hoping to replace both of my Z-240's with more compact strobes. Due to color temperature differences I've read about and desire to keep one of the 3 Z-240's, I've gone with the S-2000 instead since it has exactly the same color balance as a Z-240. Included is the YS-01 Flash, are a used S&S OEM optical cable and iDas YS arm. Plus, a 90 degree Typel L Nauticam connector to easily modify the optical cable for their housings. Altogether they cost new $549. Get a great compact strobe and extras for $440 plus shipping. Will separate: YS-01-$395, Optical Cable $45, iDas YS 1" ball mount-$15 I don't always get notifications so email me if interested: mcolleypublic@gmail.com
  21. For Sale: iTorch Pro 4 1200 lumen light with red and white LED's. 3 levels each. This is a really bright video and focus light with a wide spread circular beam. In excellent condition other than one of the red LED's doesn't work. I seldom use the red and the other is so bright, the 2nd one is not necessary. You still have plenty of red light if you want. Comes with a charger and two powerful batteries that run over at hour at full intensity. Don't get caught with a dead video light because there's no time or place to charge between dives. You can easily get more batteries if you want more. Cost new $499 Will sell for $285 plus shipping For some reason I don't always get my notifications, so please also send an email to: mcolleypublic@gmail.com
