Thought i'd posted this before but i don't think i did. A slightly-too-long compilation of 3 days of Oceanic Mantas at Black Rock in the Mergui Archipelago, Myanmar. Very unusual trip in that (i) lots of mantas there and (ii) the visibility wasnt 5m of green for once! Underwater shot with a Canon EOS70D with and without a magic filter. I know there are frame rate stutter issues in places. No sound track as i dont actually have any music stored locally to put onto the footage.

Attached a little clip from our trip to Addu Atoll, the southernmost Atoll of the Maldives in January 2017. Most scenes are from a single dive at "Manta Point" on 14.01.2017, with a few shots from "Gan Kandu South" dive-site added for good measure. Shot on Sony AX100 camcorder in a Gates housing. Video lights (Keldan 4x) where only used in one shot. All other clips are ambient light shots. Color corrected in Davinci Resolve, edited in Final Cut Pro X. I just posted a five-minute short video from a recent dive trip to Raja Ampat in West Papua, Indonesia onto my website. http://www.peterwalker.com/rajaampat.html I was only in Raja Ampat for 3 days to shoot a promo video for a dive resort (see below). But, even in that short time, I came across an amazing amount of marine life. Rather than squeeze in lots of quick snippets of the myriad of creatures, for this short video, I just edited down to a few of the more impressive or colourful fish. Raja Ampat really is a diver's paradise! (And, if you want to dive the northern area from a very comfortable resort, I can recommend the Raja Ampat Dive Lodge which is, not only in the midst of the sites, but also has an amazing dive under its own jetty) Regards Peter Shot with a GH4 in a Nauticam housing.- 5 replies

Hello fellow Wetpixelers, During the effort to fully catalog over 5 years of underwater filming on an almost daily basis I have been finding some "Hidden Gems" that I had forgotten about due to the pressure to turn things around for the next day. I am only half way through the phenomenal number of tapes but to break up the monotony of viewing, extraction, key-wording etc I have put together a short show reel which uses a minute fraction of what I have found so far. Clips chosen mainly for how they flow into each other. So I thought I would share it with you. Footage shot between Jan 2008 and Jan 2010. Cheers Richard

We have 3 spots left (1 male, 2 shared cabin) on the Rocio Del Mar live aboard for the February 15-23rd trip to Archipielago Revillgigedos (Socorro Islands). You must arrive in Cabo, Mexico on the 14th. Price of the trip is 3295USD. This trip was sold out, but 3 people had to drop out. This is a trip for advanced divers. Socorro is all about big animal diving; leave the macro lens and diopters at home! We expect to see giant Pacific manta rays, Silky Sharks, Hammer Heads (Great & Scalloped), Galapagos Sharks and White tipped reef sharks. Tigers have been seen occasionally. Additionally we expect to see dolphins, huge schools of jacks and giant tuna. We have chosen this time of year to go to Socorro (my 6th trip there) because we feel that it will give us the best opportunity to encounter humpbacks (and their calfs) on SCUBA (no guarantees :-).) Hi all, It's hard to see and still not clear what killed these 220 mobula rays and washed up on the beach in Gaza. Mobulas haven't been spotted in the region for 6 years. This happened just a few days before the CITES which will open in Bangkok and an agreement should result on some species of sharks and rays fishing regulation. If you haven't signed the manta rays petition yet, it's the moment to do it now befor the CITES. Fishermen collected and gut 220 Mobula Rays in Gaza -

In the past 3 years I have traveled to the corners of the planet, to some of the most remote and inaccessible coastal regions, to document the unchecked and often secret slaughter of one of the most graceful, charismatic, gentle and vulnerable of marine species…the Manta Ray. Several years ago I teamed up with my good friend and uncompromising conservation photographer Paul Hilton, to expose this senseless destruction and to try to put an end to it. This mission took us on an unforgettable journey, one that exposed us to constant danger, threat of violence, brutal conditions, exhaustion and incredible frustration. But what we were not prepared for, was the extent and brutality of the manta fisheries, and how the shark fin trader network had become the driving force behind this exploitation.
