I copy and paste my previous message in a proper thread that could be very useful for future users. I'm helping my buddy with a Sony A7RIV + Sigma 15mm-MC-11 combo. The camera become completely unstable. It switches itself between AFS and AFC. Occasionally it focuses or the screen goes black. The aperture does not work. We initially tried with original fw and then updated camera and ring to the latest fw version The sigma manual explains that if the ring led is off, the lens is not compatible and Sigma does not list the 15mm as a compatible lens but I trusted the many users here in the forum. Given the so many references here for this lens, any suggestion? At this point we will try the Metabones smart adapter V asap. Is there some reason not to chose the Meta Smart Adapter IV over the V? For sale: Canon EF-S lenses. Both lenses are used but in excellent shape both cosmetically and optically. 1. Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens. 2. Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM Lens Feel free to make a reasonable offer for either lens. The 60mm macro lens is selling on Amazon and B&H for $349. It's great for shooting, obviously, macro. The Sigma lens is an older lens, but a good versatile one. I used it for photographing medium-wide-angle macro shots. It's a versatile lens where I was able to, for instance, frame a turtle or large anemone, then frame a clownfish guarding eggs in the macro mode. Here's some information on the Sigma lens: This is an excellent lens that focuses down to 8.7 inches, or 1:3. Here's what a review from the web says: The best mid-range zoom for Canon EF-S is Sigma 17-70. There have been three versions, original plane jane 17-70, then 17-70 HSM, and now the current 17-70 OS HSM. HSM is Sigma verbiage for fast motor focus, like Nikon AF-S, or Canon USM. The original was pretty slow to focus, so this is a welcome improvement. The HSM and stabilization features are nice, and worth while, but reproduction ratio has decreased with every revision. Originally it was 1:2, then 1:2 point something or other on the HSM, and 1:3 on the OS HSM model. Newer lenses have less macro capability -- one reason to get this lens instead of a newer one. I'm inspired to clean out more of my gear closet after selling my Z-240 strobes + my backup strobe. Spring cleaning 2019 a few days late. First up, a little used Nauticam 8.5" acrylic dome with shade, rated for 150m. With original box and accessory. The dome has some typical wear, but no scratches or nicks. Nothing that shows up in my photos even when there's a lot of blue in the frame. I'm sure if someone else is asked to describe it they'll say it is very clean. But I want to be conservative so nobody is unhappy after purchase. The bottom plastic lens shade has the usual wear, as that's where the camera sits on a table or floor. - New $590 Asking $350 Next, Nauticam Compact Port Base & Compact Port 30. This is my backup macro port, didn't see a lot of use. Here I'll say it is mint. Glass is perfect and no marks on the body. Together this is for a 60mm macro. If you add a Compact Port Extension 40 it'll work for a 105mm macro. So 3 small parts for 2 macro lenses. This compact port system has 1 advantage over the normal Port 60, if you unscrew the base from the port, you can essentially nest the port inside the base. Which makes it about 1/2 the size, saving a lot of room in your carryon bag. - New base $240 Asking $150 - New port 30 $200 Asking $125 - Buy both together for $250 Lastly I've my backup wide and macro do it all, Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.5 Macro HSM DC lens for Nikon. Wow that's a mouthful. And the matching Nauticam zoom gear. This is a useful lens for those dive where there are both big animals and macro subjects. Or if you've have not idea what might be interesting. Ever asked a divemaster if this is a macro or wide dive, and they shrug and say it depends. Not helpful This is the lens for those dives. I don't have the box for this anymore, but the glass is absolutely clean since it is only ever used behind a dome. Never used on land. - New lens $500 and gear $175. I'm selling my beloved Nikon D800 and Nauticam Housing with a Sigma 15mm fisheye lens for 2.500 € plus shipping. The housing is fully functional and has been serviced by Nauticam Spain last April. The housing has signs of use (most remarkably the white lettering that has fallen off in some buttons) but has always served me well. I have installed a UW Technics Led trigger to work with fibre optic strobes without using the camera pop-up flash (this alone is a 300 € extra). The camera and lens are in very good state and they were mostly used inside the housing. This sigma lens is very sharp (I would say it's sharper than my Nikkor 8-15mm fisheye). I'm the first and only owner of everything I'm selling. I'm asking 2.500 € + shipping. The itens are located in Portugal so I would prefer selling within the EU. I have a sigma 18-50mm lens which I would like to get a flat port for. I have a nauticam housing NA-7D and am currently using extension ring 21150 with a dome port for sigma 10-20mm. Norbert Wu More notes on the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM Lens for Canon Cameras: Here are comments from Ryan Canon, the underwater guru/expert at Reef Photo in Ft. Lauderdale, about this lens: The best mid-range zoom for Canon EF-S is Sigma 17-70. There have been three versions, original plane jane 17-70, then 17-70 HSM, and now the current 17-70 OS HSM. HSM is Sigma verbage for fast motor focus, like nikon af-s, or canon USM. The original was pretty slow to focus, so this is a welcome improvement. The HSM and stabilization features are nice, and worth while, but unfortunately reproduction ratio has decreased with every revision. Originally it was 1:2, then 1:2 point something or other on the HSM, and now 1:3 on the OS HSM model. A 7.8cm x 5.2cm frame is still pretty small for macro video, but you have to decide whether that is good enough for you or not. [Norb's note: this was perfect for shooting macro subjects for me, but obviously not things below 1:3]. We can set the lens up behind a flat port for use in the 35-70mm focal length, which probably makes sense for macro video. You can also use it behind a dome for the full zoom range which some people like with skittish stuff like reef sharks.

I taught my annual Digital Master class in Key Largo last week, and having six days of local diving provided a bit of time to test new gear. One item of significance was the new Sigma 20mm F-1.4 prime wide angle. I shot it on a Canon 5Ds, SEACAM housing, Superdome, and 57.5mm port extension. This is the same one I use for my 16-35mm lens. I did not obsess over what port extension would put me in exact nodal point of the lens. Rather, this is simply plug and play with gear I had easily at hand. Here are the results: Sigma 20mm lens on Canon 5D3 for scale Normal perspective of 20mm lens underwater, chosen to illustrate primary subject on same plane of focus as background Test of near focus, with seafan lower left actually touching the Superdome and zone of AF on this portion of seafan screenshot at 100%, corner detail lower right screenshot at 100%, corner detail lower left screenshot at 100%, detail close focus on seafan lower left In that this lens is Sigma, it can work either Nikon or Canon. I find great potential here and bring it to your collective attention due to collective angst over poor corner resolution in many wide angle optics used UW.
