  1. A new forum for issues surrounding Wetpixel travel and trips
  2. Hi all, At long last, I have posted a review that attempt to try and compare the performance of various wide-angle option for Nikon FX cameras. This is in part due to the frequently recurring threads on the forums about choosing these types of lenses. It is not perfect, nor complete, so it would be great if it could spark some discussion too! http://wetpixel.com/articles/review-nikon-fx-wide-angle-lenses I look forward to being challenged. Adam
  3. Dear Wetpixel community, We are changing our servers and updating the site in order to provide some exciting new features and functionality over the next few months. Many apologies for the inconvenience, but this means that we will need to take the forums offline for around 24 hours. We plan to do so from 1500 GMT (1100 ET/0800PT) on Wednesday 24 July and hope to have everything back up and running by the same time on Thursday 25 July. The front page should not be affected, nor will our social media accounts. I will be posting updates on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Wetpixel/) and twitter. Thank you in advance for your understanding and please bear with us while we get the site updated. All the best Adam

  6. Hi all, Here are a few screenshots detailing how to add images to forum posts. If possible, please try to link to images, rather the embed. Some ideas on how to do so are here: http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15473 If you have to embed, please follow the instructions below: Click on the Attach Images (Choose Files) button. This will open a dialog that allows you to select the files on your computer. Please note that maximum file size is 1000KB. This will add a small thumbnail of your image(s). Move you cursor to where you want the image to appear in your post. Click the "Add to Post" text on the bottom right. This will add the text linking to your image. When you click "Post New Topic", the image will appear in your post. Any problems, please let me know! Adam
  7. The 2015 Wetpixel Ultimate Tiger Shark expedition is under way! People are flying in from the U.S.A., U.K., China and Finland and will be gathering at the Blue Marlin Cove Resort and Marina on Sunday, with our first day with Epic Diving at Tiger Beach on Monday. I will be "live" blogging from the Bahamas each day here and on the Wetpixel front page and I hope that the trip participants will also be adding stories and images to this thread. Please keep checking back to get the updates.
  8. Wishing the Wetpixel community the happiest of happy holidays, all the new "must-have" gear as gifts and safe diving with wonderful photographic opportunities in 2015. Thanking you all for your input and support during this past year! Take care! Adam
  9. Wetpixel would like to apologize to the community for the extended outage that we have been experiencing here on the site. Our hosting company has some serious server issues, and despite our nagging, cajoling and even at one point (I am ashamed to say) threatening, they seem very slow to manage to fix them. As a result, the site went down and to be frank, may do so again. We know how frustrating this is to you all (as it is to us too) and thank you all for bearing with us. We hope the issues are now at an end, but it seems that their repairs are not complete, and it seems likely that there will be further disruption. If the site isn’t working, please let us know via our Facebook group. Apologies in advance.
  10. This is to serve as a place holder for the 2014 Wetpixel Whale sharks trip. We will be posting regular updates from Isla Mujeres here, so please check back often. Caron and I actually arrived late last night having here travelled from UK via Montreal! Even the welcoming placard for our transfer at Cancun airport had a whale shark on it.... The rest of the team for the first week will be arriving today, and we set sail for sharks early tomorrow morning. Getting very excited now! We will be hopefully be posting lots of pictures of real sharks tomorrow night! Adam

  12. Wetpixel will be visiting Cat Island, Bahamas in 2015 to photograph, film and interact with the amazing oceanic whitetip sharks (Carcharhinus longimanus) that are in the area during May and April. The trip will run from 12-18 April and we will be hosted by Epic Diving, who are well known for providing amazing, reliable and safe interactions with these amazing animals. Spaces are strictly limited, so please head on over to the trip’s page for more details and to book. Wetpixel is also running a trip to Tiger Beach in January 2015.
  13. After a break of a few years, Wetpixel will be returning to the Bahamas and Tiger beach in 2015. The Bahamas is still the choice destination for shark diving and photographically offers the best opportunity for creating truly memorable images. As always, the Wetpixel trip will concentrate on providing excellent potential subjects for underwater image makers. The trip runs from 4-10 January and we will be land based in Freeport and diving with Epic Diving each day. For full details, please view the trips's page on Wetpixel Expeditions.
  14. As I write, folks from around the world are winging their ways towards Labuan Bajo, where they will board The Seven Seas for 11 days of amazing underwater encounters and imaging opportunities. After a brief spell in port, a second group will arrive and will embark for a further 11 days. We will be diving in the Komodo National Park, concentrating on the Deep South. At this time of year, the north west monsoon completely changes the south sides of the Komodo Island group. This means that the area is washed by crystal clear currents and as the wind moves form south east to north west, the swells flatten out and the southern upwellings cease. Here is some video shot by Linda Johnson in the south: We plan to add updates to this thread as we sail, although it is likely that internet connectivity will, at times, be limited. Please keep checking back for updates and images from the trip.
  15. I am in Singapore waiting for my flight tomorrow morning onwards to Manado for the Wetpixel Lembeh Workshop. Group leader and workshop instructor Alex Mustard is there already and comments: And after the welcome to the Resort, the underwater welcome as only Lembeh Strait can do. I got here just in time to night dive, so after 1 dive: 5 frogfish (inc. 2 hairy), stargazer, bobbit worm, coral mimicking nudis (Phyllodesmium rudman/jacobsen and Marionia sp.) loads of mating nudis, crabs and shrimps everywhere, pygmy squid etc etc. It promises to be a very productive stay! I spent yesterday evening hanging out with David Cheung of Scubacam after picking up some last minute gear that has been provided for testing on the trip: (David and Sanah at Scubacam) We plan to provide regular updates on this thread, and to encourage the workshop participants to do the same. Please check back often as the trip progresses! Adam
