Just wanted to share and discuss with other video shooters using A7SIII. Until this trip I have been shooting always in SLOG3, however for this last weekend I tweaked a HLG profile and shot exclusively with that. I found it fine to use, although colours can be a bit odd to my eye. Always keen to hear from and learn other Sony shooters settings for underwater video. Enjoying the process. All shot in 4K 4:2:2 10 bit, 60fps, PP10, HLG, with A7SIII, 28mm F2 inside WWL-1, using a combination of nitescuba NSV80 lights which I'm currently testing, and my existing Keldan lights.

Hi all New member here, and I'm finally taking the steps to get my A7Siii underwater with me. I'm leaning towards the items below and would love to hear any input! I'll be 99% video and blue water diving is my main goal with this setup (trying to get the most versatile setup in one lens). Beginning in Cabo San Lucas to get my PADI Instructor later in 2022 and after that considering Philippines / Indonesia full time. I plan to document and share this journey with the A7Siii above and below water on my YouTube channel (getting this set up now). WetPixel has already been a fantastic source of information and inspiration, thank you! A7Siii (already own & use) Nauticam housing (haven't purchased yet) Sony 28-60mm lens (already purchased used) WWL-1 (haven't purchased yet) Lights are still to be determined (still so much to research/learn on lights) Beginning this without an external monitor, with practice I hope I can do this without one! Let me know what you think! I'll share my progress here if I can manage, or I'll add my YouTube link soon which would be much more efficient. Cheers! Riley

Hi all! I was quite active as a beginner here a few months ago, asking lots and lots of questions mostly about Nikon FX and the Nauticam WACP. I reached the conclusion that the D850 I already own with a WACP should be my best bet for optimum quality, but held off purchasing simply because of cost. Since then I’ve been thinking, and I’m now investigating other alternatives. Reasons for doing so include * size and weight (topside) of WACP solution, especially when travelling. * yes, cost. * not being sure I’ll be happy with having 25 mm (70 mm x 0.36) as my longest focal length. The alternatives I’m now looking at all include the WWL-1, which I gather is in many respects the equivalent of the WACP (albeit a removable wetlens) for smaller sensors. My plan with this post is to ask you whether I seem to have understood things correctly. I’ve been looking at two camera and three lenses. The Sony A6400 with 16-50, and the Olympus E-M1 MkII with either 14-42 or 12-50. Camera-wise the A6400 would give me about an extra stop of sensor performance. In fact, make that two stops at base ISO since A6400 goes to ISO 100, E-M1 to 200. (DxOMark and photonstophotos don’t quite agree though, I don’t quite know what to make of that.) I should also get a significantly better AF with A6400. The E-M1 on the other hand would give me IBIS and 2/3 stops better flash sync (1/250 s I believe, 1/160 s on the Sony). In fact, the Sony would lock me at 1/160 s or slower even if I turned off my strobes, since that’s what it does when the popup flash is raised. (The slow sync speed of the Sony should, in scenarios with sunlit backgrounds, be offset by the sensor’s theoretically better dynamic range at base ISO, but being locked at 1/160 s is still a bummer.) As for lenses, the 14-42 allows full zoom-through, giving full-frame equivalent of 10-30 mm with the WWL-1. This is better than the WACP. Using the 12-50 it vignettes until at 16 mm, giving maybe 12-36 mm equiv with WWL-1 assuming full zoom-through, which is still highly respectable by my standards. On the Sony side the 16-50 vignettes until 20 mm, giving 11-27 mm equiv. HOWEVER, if I use the bayonet mount the WWL-1 is easily removed, quickly opening up mid-range focal lengths should I need them. This is not possible with the WACP. Being behind a flat port I guess I need to go to maybe 40 mm (equiv) or so before getting rid of the most horrible corner issues, so there will be a gap in usable FOV:s but I think that will be ok. Also, I’m not sure but I think I should be able to use e.g. the SMC-1 with all of these lenses. I’m not sure how that would compare to a dedicated macro lens, but it should give me wide-angle, mid-range and macro on the same dive, which again would not be possible with the WACP. Of course I would be sacrificing resolution and dynamic range if I’m not using my D850. I have a couple of follow-up questions. But as a start – does this sound about accurate?

Recent video, Barracuda lake in Coron, Palawan, Philiipines. With temperatures raising to 37 degrees centigrade this is an awesome experience of a dive if you get to Coron, you have to try it! I have other videos of the shipwrecks in Coron also shot last few weeks, will post separate link here or find on my YouTube. Thanks! I am trying to get a feel if I can sell my GH5 SYSTEM- It's only been used on roughly 80 dives. The WWL-1 lens set up has been used the most for about 40+ of the dives; My macro setup has been used on 4 dives; and the fisheye has been used on 14 dives. Everything is is near new/mint condition minus the buoyancy collar and Keldan lights as those were bought used already, I have broken down what I paid- and with a 25% discount off of all the mint like condition items or appropriately OR BEST OFFER!! Would LOVE to sell this kit whole but I most likely know that maybe it will go in pieces. I have most of my invoices (starting from 2018 to present), Most everything has the original box or bag, with extra o-rings, silicone grease etc. Pictures can be asked upon request (as there's too much inventory to post) Serious Inquires Only and best offers- Thank You, Will be Cross Posting GH%.numbers

Hi Everyone! I am selling my Nauticam WWL-1 Wet Wide Lens 130° 67mm Wetmate lens. I love the lens, but I am going to step it up and get a dome port. I want to shoot with my pro lenses and have several lenses that could work with my new dome port. Feel free to make an offer. The WWL-1 is in literally perfect condition. I only used it on 5 dives and I kept it wrapped in a towel with the hard cover on it after every dive. I have got some great shots off it, but for me I just want to shoot with one lens on each dive. The link to the lens is below on Backscatter. https://www.backscatter.com/Nautical-WWL-1-130-Wet-Wide-Lens

I'm going wreck diving in Truk Lagoon this year. Any experiences/recommendations for the best WA setup to cover exterior and interior wreck shots? I'll be shooting an Olympus m43 in a Nauticam housing with dual strobes (Z330 or Retra). Size and weight are main limitations. I only have UW photography experience from a GoPro. Plenty experience top-side. I mainly dive wrecks and this lens/port/dome is only for that purpose. Options I'm considering (probably in this order): Pana 8mm FE i 4" port (size and weight is very attractive, FE for interiors maybe not ideal, doesn't seem flexible enough) Pana 14-42mm in macro port with WWL-1 (versatility is a plus, IQ of pana lens worries me, weight is a disadvantage) Oly 7-14mm in 170mm port (versatility is a plus, better iq than wwl-1 (?), weight is disadvantage) Oly 24mm in 4" port (size is an advantage, maybe more general purpose than 8mm FE) I really would like the Pana 8mm FE option to work, but with only GoPro UW experience, I'm not certain what compromises that will entail.

Hi! For those who may remember earlier threads: yeah, this is me once again discovering a potential uw system candidate, yet I never seem to buy anything. Balking in front of the expense, size and weight of a full frame system, an m4/3 system seems a reasonable compromise. But what about the APS-C alternatives? I think the Fuji X-H1 looks very attractive. I know there is no native fisheye, so if that's important to you Fuji is out. But hear me out on the rest: * Camera and housing (Nauticam) noticeably cheaper than X-T3. Remember, this is a compromise. * I get IBIS and don't lose that much to the X-T3. The housing is actually significantly lighter. * Paired with the 15-45 lens (cheap, light, quite good) I can use the WWL-1, which does pretty much the same job as the WACP-1 but at a fraction of the cost and weight. * There is native macro. (It would be cool to be able to use a CMC lens on the 15-45 but I don't know if that's possible.) * 1/250 s flash sync (looking at you, Sony APS-C) So yeah, I lose one stop compared to a full frame system and there's no native fisheye. Size, weight, price much lower, even if stuff like strobes will still cost the same. Is there a serious gotcha I missed?

Has anyone here tried mounting a Nauticam WWL-1 on a Meikon a6000 housing to use with the 16-50 lens? The lens is one of the recommended lenses to be used with the a6000/a6300 and the WWL-1. It seems odd to be putting such an expensive wet lens on a cheapo Meikon housing but I'm trying to take baby steps to get where I want to be. I've been shooting on an old Oly E-PM1 rig and soon found out that I've outgrown it. I'm a photographer/videographer by trade and own several high end cameras (A7rII, A7s, 5D3, GH3, C100) for my work, but wanted to start slowly with my underwater rig to make sure that it's something that I'd like enough to continue. I've found that while the E-PM1 was nice to learn on, I'm missing the responsiveness, AF, and quality of files of my higher end cameras. This leads me to the a6000 and the WWL-1. Eventually, I'd like a Nauticam a6500 w/16-50 to be used with the WWL-1 and a CMC. I have a pair of Sea & Sea 110a strobes that I'll be using with the a6000. In the meantime, I've found an inexpensive a6000 with a Meikon housing and 16-50 lens that might be a good stepping stone to the a6500 w/Nauticam housing. Since the front of the Meikon port has a 67mm thread, would the WWL-1 mount and work with the a6000 & 16-50 combo the same as it would on a Nauticam housing?

Has a small hairline scratch on the front glass element that isn't noticable during normal use, but can show up when shooting the water column into the sun. Comes with bayonet mount and float collar, protective box. Here are two videos recently shot with this lens so you can judge for yourself if the flaw matters to you. Note that for pictures, it's much easier to fix any imperfections. https://www.youtube.com/embed/Sb1JYcD_F3U https://www.youtube.com/embed/PlgcAgGTTxs

Up for sale is a used Nauticam WWL-1 lens. The lens has been used sparingly, and shows very little signs of use. Attached to various 28mm lenses, using either Nauticam's proprietary bayonet or a standard M67 mount, the lens has a 130-degree perspective, great for close focus wide angle. The lens also allows for zoom-through using kit-type lenses, making this a very flexible lens to use underwater. The lens can be attached and removed underwater. The lens sells for USD 1150 new. The hard cap USD 80; float collar USD 50. All totaled, this cost $1280. I will sell this lens with the mounts, caps and collar for $800 plus shipping. Please see photographs of the lens here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/craigfuj2/albums/72157679631933914 Please see a compatibility chart here: http://www.bluewaterphotostore.com/nauticam-wet-wide-lens-130-83201
