Unread articles icon

Recommended Posts

My unread articles icons (pretty fishies instead of grayed fishies) only work

when I manually mark all messages read. Inside a forum the unread articles

indicators work properly. When a new article is posted, my gray fishies pop

back to life. They just refuse to fade. Anyone else with this problem?

Hi Guys,

That sounds like a cookies problem to me.

Craig, may I suggest you go to the main forums page and scroll down to the bottom - then click "Delete all cookies set by this forum."

You will have to log back in, but I'm hoping that will fix your trouble.

Cheers

James

Inside each forum everything works as expected. Both the unread articles icon and the "jump to unread" arrow (whatever that's called) work properly. Only the top-level fishies don't work. They turn on properly but don't turn off.

Deleting cookies doesn't fix the problem.

I'm wondering about time zones. I'm set to my time zone and the time appears correct, but I need to leave daylight savings time unchecked.

The next version of this forum (which is in beta right now) has a "view new topics" button, among other enhancements.

However, I'll probably wait until all the bugs have been ironed out before upgrading.

The problem I have is in Mozilla. Works fine in IE on the same computer.

Just an update, now icons update intermittently.

Have you checked the inside of your desktop for aliens? :)

Just kidding. I don't know what the problem is - sorry I can't be more helpful.

Cheers

I'm just providing this FYI at this point. Not a big enough problem for me to use IE, for sure.

Craig -

This should work properly now, but if it doesn't you can manually mark the entire board, or individual forums as read.

Still a problem. With the nested forums, all levels have the problem. Only the threads themselves work.

I believe if I wait a while the icons clear. As I said earlier, the behavior is different for Mozilla vs. IE.

I see the "Mark all read" on the top level screen. I don't see how to mark an individual forum, though.

OK, from within the forum. This clears the individual icon in the parent. A big improvement for me.
