anthp 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Brilliant stuff Lambis. You've really made good use of that fisheye. Are you shooting with the magic filters? The first is a big favourite for me. Looking forward to seeing more.
james 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Great shots Lambis. So the camoflage leotard is the thing to be seen in this year? I'll have to get one - time to throw my silver one on the scrap heap! Cheers James

motionsync 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Thanks Guys. I think that It was good the I cant use the 16mm lens The 10,5 is way better and i can controll better this lens, strange but true The camo is in !!! First shott is from a Russian girl, Natalia. For me , the next Champion. She is just incretable. The visability is still low and yes i use Magic filter :-) The photos are straight from the camera. The Jpegs. Just have resize them Cant wait to come home and see the NEFs
Alex_Mustard 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Try to get on the otherside of the competitors (when the sun is in the right place) so that you can get blue water, rather than reef behind them. Also I bet that the saddle on the entrance into the Blue Hole would be a great place for filter shots of freedivers exploring the coral garden. Get to it, Lambis. motionsync 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Hi Alex The sun is always in Back off me and the reef off the front.. I was thinking the same but it is imposible becauce the ropes are near to the reef (Above the Arch) so the we can get to the bottom off the blue hole Its still very bad visability (Wintertime is comming and its very windy) The Saddle is a great place (Full with lionfishes) but almost imposible to shoot becauce its full with snorklers and Scuba divers all the time. Its like a invasion. Offen I cant get the shoots becauce of so many bubles comming from the deep :-) BUT I am on IT!!! More photos
anthp 0 Posted November 3, 2005 You saved the best til late Lambis! I love the feeling of movement and the composition on 4470 (the middle one). Keep 'em coming
davephdv 0 Posted November 3, 2005 I love that very first shot you posted. That is a great shot.
james 0 Posted November 3, 2005 That second shot in the second series you posted is SUPERB Lambis. Great job! Wow! James
motionsync 0 Posted November 3, 2005 Thanks i try to be better all the time and search for good compositions... Many, and some really better photos will come later BUT I could done this without all you guys. I have learn everything in this forum. Bu asking (Sometimes pain in the a...s) by reading and by watching other photos.. So in every picture is a bitt off Wetpixel. and that is good becauce as a beginner i like to make happy me and my tutors... i mean it . Today i will try to take some photos with scuba gear.. i have mix feeling about that becauce i think they will be really static photos . When I freedive i am fast in movement and very fast in changing positions. I can HUNT the freedivers becauce I am one off them.. I can come very close without to be a problem for them and I cane change deeps in Seconds..I think that on the end i get better resultats if I freedive. Whell , we will see I will later tell you about Scuba & freediving. Oh one last think... its very easy to take photos when the freedivers are also you friends becauce you know exactly how they will behave underwater From windy dahab Lambis
yahsemtough 0 Posted November 3, 2005 Great stuff. Your freediving shots have a lot of impact and tell a story. Well done! Ahh James in a tight suit. I think the hair coming out the sleeves and ankles would ruin the shot.

yahsemtough 0 Posted November 3, 2005 I'll wax just for you Todd. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OK then, first trip we do together I expect to see this. Have you cleared this with Sarah yet? motionsync 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Some more photos This is what Russian Freedivers do when they have a day off. Its is the first time in my life that I miss a Video camera The movement and the harmony with the Sea are just amazing. There are no words. Otherwise I have problem with my sinuses (no wonder with so many freedives per day) I have test scuba. The photos are more clear and with good composition But the lack off dynamic and diferent angles. More or less they are all the same. If I am freediving I have the bonus to do wharewer I whant. Exosting but woth it... I will think again if I will scuba. Tommorow stars the competition. Untill now they was training days. Today there was a Static Apnea (Hold you breath under water) in a pool but i have not taken photos. I have coaching a good friend.
dmoss 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Lambis, Great pictures. You have definitely captured the mystic of freediving. Ever since I saw the movie 'The Big Blue', I've been fascinated by the sport. The 'How the hell do they do that' factor really pops in your images. Looking forward to more.
motionsync 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Back home I try to go trough the Photos. It was very very educational travel this time. I have deffinitly see the strong and week sides off my rig and more or les I begin to be familier with it... The thinks that bother me is mostly nikon D70s AF system and the noice in high isos. Second place was the small viewfinder that make very hard to make a perfect composition especially when you are freediving. Bigest plus.. The 10,5mm lens. I can live just with this lens. I love it is exactly what I need and creates a dynamic photo that not other lens can do. My housing, the Nexus D70s, is a killer.... not problem att all. small compact easy to use.. Then off cource Alex Magic filter I cant live witout it. It is priceless.. So one think for sure.. I will go with a other camera Maybe D200 maybe (if I maried to some greek Tycon dotter) a D2X One more think. What is a succeful Photo trip. How many keepers normaly you have and how many off those keepers are stuff for Magazin Cover? Just curius As soon as I have go trough my Photos I will post a link hier. Lambis
richorn 0 Posted November 11, 2005 A sucessfull trip is any that you enjoy and return home safe from. If you get a few keepers, even better. If you get a magazine cover, you take another trip or get a new camera!
motionsync 0 Posted November 11, 2005 That was a succefull trip and I have enjoy it very mutch. My guestion is about the photografic aspect. I think that if 10% of the photos are good then I am satisfied. We speek about freediving photos where is harder to compose etc.. On my last trip I have taken about 500 Photos. Off those ca 30% are out of focus are something else becauce off my problem with the 16mm lens. The others are more documentary photos about the competition (Photos from every diver, finals, ceremony , land photos) thenI have maybe 50 that I like and off those maybe 20 that are like the ones that i have posted hier. More or less every time when I travel I have ca 20 -30 UW Photos Funny beacuce my gallery is now on 50 and I have make 2 trips in my life. Lambis
shchae 3 Posted November 11, 2005 Hi, Did you find what was the problem with your 16mm ?? Sam
motionsync 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Sam I think its a combination of my dome and low contrast. The Lens is working great in clear waters but when contast and visability is low then I have a problem That happens not with my 10,5 But maybe I am wrong....
