Rocha 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Hi! Welcome to wetpixel! I am no video expert, so I can't help you here, but I will move your post to the video area where it will get more attention. Luiz
Drew 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Thanks Luiz. Eanx32 Please try to explain clearly what the problem is? I don't quite understand what you mean. Also you can try contacting L&M directly.
pmooney 6 Posted November 14, 2005 First thing I would do is install FRESH batteries in the handgrips. This will usually solve the lack of controls in the L & M Bluefin housings. I am a little unsure of what you mean by ''Only with the red filter is covering is in place.'' Good Luck
MikeVeitch 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Sounds like maybe the flip filter is compressing one of the control wires or something? Weird...maybe take it out and reseat the camera Definitely change the grip batts as Peter says
WaterWorks 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Hi Wetpixelers, I'm two years behind on this thread but for future reference to people having the same problem, Mike Veitch was spot on - kind of..... Your L & M housing relies upon IR technology to send a signal from the grips to your camera. If the signal is corrupted at all, by untidy cables or other obstacles, then the camera cannot be commanded to perform some of its functions. GENERALLY your problem will come from your internal configuration of the "wobbily bits". The pop-off door which covers your camera's ports - FireWire, AV in/out, LANC, headphones etc..... - you need to tuck this port cover into the velcro part of the strap, ensuring that it stays right out of the way. If feeling destructive, then you can always tear it right off! Your loading tray cables should all be tucked around and underneath each other to ensure a nice snug fit with the camera. BE CAREFUL NOT TO PUT ANY FORCE UPON EITHER END OF THE CABLE. When you were moving your red-filter it was moving one of these "wobbily bits" and in turn pushing them into a position which interfered with the IR signal. Basiclaly ensure that all your wobbily bits are tucked away nice and neatly - just like if you were to be meeting the future mother in law for the first time.... if you catch my drift!?!?!?!? If that fails to rectify the problem then, it MAY be a battery problem. Firstly, mirror your grips - L & M have an ingenious benefit of being able to switch the controls on the grips to perform the function of its opposing button on the opposite grip. Therefore by mirroring the left grip, the photo button actually becomes your rec button, the focus buttons become you zoom buttons etc...... To mirror - hold down (on the right grip) the two zoom buttons for three seconds, and (on the left grip) the focus buttons for three seconds. This doesn't have to be done at the same time, thankfully, as the limits imposed upon us by biology mean that you simply can't mirror both grips at the same time. So what? The whole procedure takes ten seconds. VOILA! All functions now correspond to the opposite button on the opposite grip. Now try recording from the left grip and if it works, then your battery in your right grip needs replacing. I am sure, though, that the problem comes from your cable and port door configuration as it only occurs when the flip filter is being moved about. Bottom line - before even putting your camera into a dunk tank to test for leaks - CHECK ALL FUNCTIONS PERFORM PROPERLY. Hope this helps people with similar problems in future..... Seeya!
