dmoss 0 Posted November 16, 2005 Ok, so this being the first post in a brand new thread..I figure anything goes. Check out this monster here Yeah, I know, never work underwater. What with the 3' length, obscene price tag of $80.000 and minimum focus distance of 46 feet it's got a lot of negatives. But, hey, we wouldn't need weight belts anymore Field test here Still, it would be fun to play with.
Rocha 0 Posted November 16, 2005 Amazing! Here is the telephoto that I dream about: http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1...&productNr=2146 But I can't justify the mere $5,000 cost, especially because I won't be using it underwater .
acroporas 0 Posted November 17, 2005 Yea but the 1200 comes with it's own tripod....And you could allways add a meter of extension tubes and you could shoot 1:1 macro.

JoelD 0 Posted November 21, 2005 David, I just caught up to this thread, couple of things to remind you my partner in the competetive spending olympics. 1) Ike will probably build you a port for this.... 2) Donna will enjoy the house you build for her for her 'equality'. 3) It will be another bag to check through SJ, cause unless you start coming with me to the gym, ya ain't going to carry-on this guy
dmoss 0 Posted November 21, 2005 1) Ike will probably build you a port for this.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ike's already working on it...he figures he can just take an aluminum 80...chop the ends off....glue on a dome and I'm good to go
herbko 0 Posted November 21, 2005 With the right diopter you can frame fill a subject the size of a grain of sand and still have a few inches of working distance.
dmoss 0 Posted November 21, 2005 With the right diopter you can frame fill a subject the size of a grain of sand and still have a few inches of working distance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And actually do this without getting your feet wet. Just lean over the side of the boat...stick the port in the water...and fire away. And I thought this lens had no underwater application...silly me
