Hi David, good reaction and pretty good framing. The first thing that popped into my head is the redish cast in the photo and i immediately looked to see if you were using a filter, and you were! Obviously, in the situation you found yourself with a fast moving fish there was no time to redo your white balance, that is why you have the red cast. As you ascend from depth you need to redo the WB about every five feet or so because as you get shallower the natural reds from sunlight come back into the frame. In the open water column its best to have a small white slate or something to help you do the WB. I keep one in my pocket for that. Also, the fish is slightly pointing away from the camera which takes away from the impact of the composition, a view of the fish coming toward you at about a 30 degree angle always works best.

I agree with all of Mike's comments. The one thing I want to add is that I think the photo is a bit overexposed. I like when the blue behind the fish is a bit darker.

I agree the fish is over exposed the texture is lost on the top where it is very bright. It is framed nice for some text or something but kind of moving away , fish shots are best facing us or a side shot with extreme color. The thing for me is impact. An picture of a fish ok... big deal. Nothing that knocks me over on this.
