SkroOob 0 Posted February 10, 2006 Hi yall... I have just bought a new Ikelite housing for my C-7070. Now my equipment consists of 2x Oly C-7070, Ikelite housing with a dual handle tray, Ikelite DS-50 strobe and some other small stuff. Now I need a bag that fits them all and saves some space for a future DS-125 and a WA lens. Is there anything that you guys recommend? Cheers Saad A.
yahsemtough 0 Posted February 10, 2006 I use a Lowepro Naturetrekker backpack. Fits a lot of gear and has a cover for wet conditions. You might want to check out their site as they have some other similiar size packs that would also work. Lowepro site
Kelpfish 15 Posted February 11, 2006 It depends on what you are going to do....local diving, overseas travel? For me, albeit I have a shit load of camera gear I haul around, I use a Coleman ice chest and I have a Lowepro backpack that I use for topside equipment. That way I can pack a few lenses, a camera etc if I go hiking or putz around some town. On a boat, I like the ice chest because I can use it as a platform when working on equipment when the boat is bulging at the hull with other photographers. When I travel abroad, I pack my housing, cameras and one set of strobes in a basic carry-on roller, and pack all other uninteresting stuff in the ice chest. When I arrive to the destination I simply change over to the ice chest if I need too. Joe
dmoss 0 Posted February 11, 2006 Saad, I used a Lowepro Dryzone 200 for a while. It holds a lot of gear, but by the time I got it loaded up it was very heavy. I switched to a Lowepro Pro Roller 1 for my last trip and my shoulders thanked me !! It is airline carryon legal and the equipment you have now should fit nicely, with room to spare. Hope this helps. SkroOob 0 Posted February 11, 2006 Ice box? dont you think its a bit too rough on your gear, kelpfish? It has no deviders and no coating on the inside walls. I guess you have to be very careful when you handle it. So far I really like the lowerpro Pro roller mini. It has the exact space thet I will need And I'm not gonna need a backpack since I'm a static sloth who tries to avoid walking as much as possible . thank you yahsemtough, Kelpfish and dmoss
ce4jesus 1 Posted February 12, 2006 C'mon Saad....throw in a few brewskies for padding and all is good...right?
Drew 0 Posted February 15, 2006 For laptop and cameras which require a hard case, I use: Portcase PC II : The case is actually larger than airline allowance and won't fit the sizewise testers at all airports. But it is indispensable to me for many places like rural airports in PNG or Indonesia where trolleys aren't available and porters can be very rough with luggage. It's recently cracked so I'm awaiting the response from Portercase but for now I'm endorsing the product Another favorite bag for easy carry on is : Crumpler Bags: I have the Whickey and Cox, 7 million Dollar home and the Snauros. Great bags and non-descript with the customary straps and stuff that screams camera.

You merely pack your clothing in your ice chest around your gear. Use it for padding. Been doing it for years as have many other camera buffs. Technology is getting better, but I still am using the ol' Ice Chest!!

Photobeat 0 Posted February 17, 2006 I haven't made a decsion yet - locally I use an underwater phototech rinse bag which is great. For travel I have been looking at the Lowepro pro roller and compu treckker backpack with rolling ability and laptop insert.
rbailey 0 Posted March 15, 2006 I'm a firm believer in the Ice Box. I've gone one step further and lined mine with thin foam and a couple of well placed sponges, then on the very bottom I've stuck a non slip mat. It keeps everything secure as well as not sliding all over the deck. When using locally I'm able to fill it with freash water and it enables me to keep my gear wet and cold. (I currently diving in Dubai and it gets to over 50C and the small boats have little shade and no rinse tanks). Cheers,
Steve Douglas 16 Posted March 21, 2006 I had guests on our charter to the Cocos last summer who used the ScubaPro equipment bag. I was very impressed with the quality of the bag and hope to get one one of these days. However, for my cam gear, I always use a somewhat well used large cooler with wheels and a handle. I put bubble wrap on the bottom, wrap up my housing, lights, batteries, chargers and tons of other stuff further packed by rolled t shirts, underware and dirty laundry. Thus, I am not advertising that within this old cooler is a salaries worth of expensive video equipment. Steve B)
