UWphotoNewbie 1 Posted March 6, 2006 No, this iswhat I expectected. Its about what the list is for the old 105mm without the rebate. Its amazing though. You seem to keep getting more for your money with each generation. The D200 at $1600 is a screaming deal compared to my D70 was at $1000 considering the added functionality. Getting harder to resist. I wonder what used 105s are going for on ebay??
Lionfish43 0 Posted March 6, 2006 Getting harder to resist. I wonder what used 105s are going for on ebay?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The price will probably be dropping. If you are going to unload it you should have done it a while ago. My teenage son is becoming interested in photography. I guess he'll be getting some pretty good hand-me-downs. davephdv 0 Posted March 7, 2006 I was not going to replace my old 105. Very sharp lens but sloooow AF. But after shooting the Tour of Ca bike race with it I think I want the new one. Only problem is I also want the 70-200 VR to replace my 80-400. A dilemma here. I cannot afford both. May be decided by availability before I go to Borneo this July. On that trip there is suppose to be great Macro under the resort. But we also spend 2 days in the jungle at the Orangutan refuge.
Steve Simonsen 0 Posted March 7, 2006 Regarding the 70-200 vr and/or the 80-400 vr. The 80-400 gives you so much more for the price, size and not to mention you don't have to carry both the 70-200 and the 400. I'll tell you that the 80-200 f 2.8 seems to focus faster and be sharper than the 80-400. For what it;s worth I make the 80-400 work for me. Steve
