Havskatt 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Hi, I need to connect to my Aquatica A 20 housing a focus light using a hot shoe arm that fits in a standard Nikonos V hot shoe. Is there a bracket in Aquatica catalog that connected to accessories mounting holes of the housing, can give a NikonosV-like hot shoe? (I couldn't find any) Anybody homemade this sort of bracket? sbillings 0 Posted March 16, 2006 There are two threaded holes in the top. Aquatica refers to these as 'accessory mounting holes', but I haven't seen anything in their website that attaches to it. I used a Loc-line base and bolted it to the forward hole. The bolt was fortunatly the same size so didn't need any modification. On top of that is about 6" of Loc-line. I use a Niterider light a the end of the arm and can move it around as needed. I am also curious if there was something intended by Aquatica to use those holes. Maybe someone else knows. scubamarli 5 Posted March 16, 2006 What you need to so is get a threaded ball (both TLC and ULCS) make them to fit into one of the holes. Then, find a light holder or light that allows for a matching ball end adapter. I used TLC's light holder before, and now use a Fisheye light, which you use with a Sea and Sea strobe adapter, and clamp. ULCS also makes light holders which will work. I gave up on using the Sea & Sea mini arm, which is what it sounds like you're trying to use. Cheers, Marli
Havskatt 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Thanks for the useful information. Marli I'm actually trying to use the Sea & Sea mini arm. I'm impressed. Salvatore
UWPhotoTech 0 Posted March 16, 2006 We manufacture a Shoe Mount Plate that can work with the S&S Shoe Arm with a minor modification to the Shoe Arm. The plate mounts to one of the two holes on the top of the Aquatica housing and it sells for $9.95. Two sides of the shoe plate on the S&S arm have to be ground down slightly to fit our shoe. thatporchdawg 0 Posted March 16, 2006 UWPhotoTech sold me a really neat Fantasea 44LED spotter light with about 6" of Loc-Line and the mounting hardware to attach it to the accessory mounting holes on the top of my Aquatica housing. Works great.
DrFiscus 1 Posted March 17, 2006 I have the same FantaSea light and connector with an Aquatica housing for my D70 - from UW Phototech. Works great and I have been using it as my sole dive light for several night dives. stucotts 0 Posted March 17, 2006 I believe what you are looking for is Product #17854. It is misleading on the Aquatica site, it has a picture of a focus light on an arm but the description is "Light saddle ¼-20 mount ". I went through the same problem last fall when I got mine, I called Aquatica to find out the part number I have it and it is wonderful Stuart
