craig nelson 4 Posted April 15, 2006 Hello All Has anyone yet got their hands onto a Z-240 and tested it alongside their HM ITTL converter ? or indeed have the exact specs on these guns I've got the offer of a couple now, but as my plans for the Future are D200, if its not faster enough to cope with the D200 protocols then i'm stuck with guns that will ITTL with my D70 but not my D200 If they are the Same as the D-2000w then they will work, but if the new Z-240 is a step up Z-220 they will not work with D200 ITTL, they are too slow. UWPhotoTech 0 Posted April 15, 2006 I'll be installing the HW ITTL Conversion in an Aquatica D200 housing this week and testing with the D2000Wn and the Z240, I will post my findings here.
craig nelson 4 Posted April 16, 2006 HI Dave Thanks for that, Its just a concern of mine before I part with yet more cash on UWP gear. According to HM , the D-2000wn /w is fast enough to be usable by the D200 and their circuit. I just hope the Z-240 is of the same or better eletronics, the 1.6sec reycle time is very indictive of these guns being able to supply the goods craig
Ryan 48 Posted April 16, 2006 This just happens to be how I spent my Saturday.... The D-2000wn and Z-240 both did very well with the latest batch of coverters I received. I tested both strobes with the D200 and D2x. Both were within a stop of what I'd call "perfect", easily dialed in with flash ev or the pot on the board. Some d200 shots from a beach dive- I'm finding that singla area af, with one of the cross hatched sensors, is king for macro. I had hoped one of the multiarea modes would do better, but I was really fighting hunting with anything but the single area modes... AF locked right on these buggers, even through a 1.4x tc and Nexus Wet Lens. I owe this shot to the fix light, as this little guy was pretty far back in a dark ledge. I was really suprised at how well af grabbed hold here, even well past 1:1... TTL and AF are made for opportunities like this, can't miss right? I've got about 100 of this shot from this dive... Murphy in action, when he finally displays, af misses.

Udo van Dongen 5 Posted April 18, 2006 Hi Ryan/Craig, This subject is also very much interesting for me. I was also very curious of the compatibility of the new Inon Z240 with the HW iTTL converter with a D200. Were these images shot with one or two strobes? If is was with two strobes: were they both hard-wired with a Y-cable or two separate TTL cables? Or was one strobe used as a slave strobe? I now plan to use one Z240 (TTL fired) and my old D180 as a slavestrobe. According to Matthias Heinrichs this should work although my housing dealer has some doubts... What do you guys think? My D180 can follow the internal strobe of the D200 when used in manual mode. thanx, udo
craig nelson 4 Posted April 18, 2006 Hi Udo I'm not exactly sure what the answer to that question is, I always Hard wire strobes either with a Y cable or if the Housing allows 2 cords. Ryan is your best bet with this answer. sorry craig
