Hi !

Does anyone knows when the new Subal housing for the Nikon D200 is going to be in the stores?

I pre-order mine two months ago and I was told that the first batch of housings the were going to out at the end of March, but so far nothing. I was told that Subal made a mistake in their pre-production and that was the reason of the delay. Has anyone heard anything about it?

I can wait to get back in the water and start taking photos again.

Thanks

David

Hi David,

They had a small design problem and had to make some changes to the first batch. We're now told they should be shipping in about two weeks.

Interesting Dave. So the ones that are doing the rounds aren't final versions then?

I had a play with one a couple of weeks ago - and I know you guys in the States had one before that.

We have one here in the UK for a couple of weeks (in fact I was trying to steal it for review purposes in Sipadan next week - but no chance - far to precious plus with so many back orders the manufacturers don't really need reviews!).

Also Tibor has one in Eilat for the Sandisk shootout. So they are about.

I have been shooting one of the pre-production models for the last 12 days in North Sulawesi.

You will not be disappointed with this housing. It is true to Subal's standards of fit & finish. This housing coupled with my Inon Z220 strobes was the only rig with NO problems whatsoever.

My last rig was a D70 in a Subal. At the end of a dive day, you do notice the weight difference when you "one hand" it most of the time :-).

Hi Alex,

Sorry for the slow response, I did not notice this question until today.

The housings currently in ciculation are not the final versions. We're getting our first delivery of the "final version" from Subal this coming week.

Talking to my dealer (Seaoptics) this might be the first ever time that I can get housing (the Subal ND20) before the cameras! Housings are due shortly - but no sign of the D200s yet.

I get mine tomorrow - the first one in Australia....actually it is the one sent from Subal for Sea Optics to display at the recent Sydney show. I took it as it has the GS180 actionfinder fitted and I am fed up with waiting for the full production units to arrive.

VERY excited.....

All things going my way, I'll be unloading my Titan D100 housing and cameras for replacement with the D200 the Subal system. I think I'll wait for about 6 months to get some feedback from you all, but I will say that I WILL MISS MY TITAN with ROC control. Does anyone know if L&M is going to build a D200 housing? With ROC?

Does the Subal incorporate iTTL circuitry or is it a manual system?

Yes, LMI is going to build a D200 housing LMI D200

It doesn't look like it will be available for awhile

It is my understanding that you can install one of Mathias' TTL adaptors to a ND20 but only certain strobes will work with it (ie: Inon Z240, Inon D2000Wn, Subtronics)
