Help, just downloaded trail version Vegas

Recommended Posts

Just loaded sony vegas movie studio platinum 6.0 trial version, hooked the A1U up

to the computer and can not seem to get the video to show up on the computer

The computer seems to work the video, fast forward, pause, etc.

What am I doing wrong?

All I want to do is view my video on the laptop screen. Is Pinnacle any better, was hoping to see it full laptop screen not a small window in editing software.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Terry,

It was nice meeting you at NAB.

Of course, you'll have to try Pinnacle/Avid products. :P

Studio 10.5 Plus

Avid Liquid 7.1

Since you are getting VTR controls of the A1U, it's hooked up. Check to see if there is a overlay setting in Vegas. I played with Vegas a while back but with DV tapes. Almost all editing software does not allow full screen preview while playback. You will have to record it to the hard drives first.

The trial versions of the Sony editing programs don' t support HD. They have to pay for the MPEG-2 codec, so they don't activate it except in the paid version. I think this might be true for some of the other companies also. It also doesn't show a full screen version of the video.

For what you want, look at VLC player. It's free, and can capture and show the video.

VLC Player

It also seems to a good job of showing smoothly, even on a slower machine.
