unknown nudibranch

Recommended Posts

Hi all, during our recent trip to Kimbe/PNG we photographed this nudibranch. The diveguides had never seen it before, and I cant find it on seaslugs. I sent a message to Bill, but maybe someone recognizes it? An unknown Cyerce?

Hi Marli, thanks for pointing me to Phyllodesmium. I completely overlooked it. I checked all families that I knew had that general shape and then looked around some more. Totally missed Phyllodesmium. It does indeed look like Phyllodesmium sp2.

This one has got a name:

Phyllodesmium koehleri Burghardt, Schrödl & Wägele, 2008

They named it to honor my work, I collected dozens of specimens for their research,

including several specimens of 'my' Phyllodesmium.

This is one of the ways to get "your" sea slug...
