rbailey 0 Posted June 5, 2006 Hi, I have been after a moisture alarm that will give a AUDIBLE AND VISUAL alarm for some time. I know there are lots of post on this subject and flood prevention or mitigation is close to all our hearts. I am therefore pleased to share my recent find from a company in the UK. The Aquaphoto leak detector runs from a coin cell (size 2032) and utilizes a high intensity LED and peizo sounder (70db). When activated it flashes and beeps alternately. The LED is extremely effective, in my Ikelite it’s bright enough to illuminate most of the casing, while the sounder is annoying enough to attract even my fish orientated attention. (Thankfully it’s only ever had to work on the pre dive wet finger test and never needed in anger.) The main unit is 30mm dia and 12mm high. The fly lead is a very thin ribbon cable approx 150mm long with a 4 conductor flat sensor 7 by 5mm. The main unit and the end of the fly lead both come with double sided adhesive all ready fitted for easy mounting. There was plenty of room in my DSLR housing and I assume most SLR or video users would not have any problems. Also good news for those non SLR shooters with housed compact camera’s they are also working on a smaller version for you. Cheers, Richard B.

onokai 20 Posted June 5, 2006 Aquactica used to have one a long time ago-All my f-3 housings have them. The newer Aquactica's do not make noise. Sound and lights is good. Mark

TuriLed 2 Posted June 17, 2006 Ummm, i wonder if it'll fit inside my Ikelite D70 housing. The iTTL conversion circuit doesn't leave much space inside this housing. Viz'art - i looked at the photos of aquatica's moisture alarm on B&H. The moisture detector/led cables look a little bit short in the photo. Do you have a photo showing the alarm installed in one of your housings? Thanks.
rbailey 0 Posted June 17, 2006 Maybe make a full sized model of the alarm from some corugated cardboard and piece of wire. You can then see exactly where it will fit without the expense. Cheers, Richard B.

SilvioMarchena 0 Posted June 17, 2006 "I have been after a moisture alarm that will give a AUDIBLE AND VISUAL alarm for some time. I migrated from another manufacturer to my first Seacam back in '99 and starting with that unit all my Seacams have come with factory fitted dual signal alarm. I never really study other people's gear, particularly their moisture alarms, so I'm surprised to hear some alarms are audible only.
rbailey 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Nice idea. Now all I need is the measurements... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Aqua photo is 30mm diameter anD 12mm high. I'm sure Jean Bruneau will be able to tell you specification for the new Aquatica. Cheers, Richard B.
