How about a small sony like the PC350? Plenty of housings available for it.

Or have a look for some used Sony PC110, 120 or 330...

All extremely compact

What Mike said.

Perhaps easiest way is to contact your local specialist underwater camera store and enquire about any impending trade-in's they may have,

The HDV upgrade path is creating some artificially good value for astute purchasers.

Never will they get the value for their used units that they will in todays market.

For simple consumer use, recently saw a tourist using a Sanyo Xacti teeny weensy MP4 camera inside an Epoque housing. Having seen a lot about the little bugger I was intrigued to see how it performed - surprisingly well really, for a little consumer cam being used to highlight somebody's holiday video.

Just found that Sanyo’s EHS-400X "own-brand" housing is also an option....

HI Folks

thanks for you input

chris, actually i've been looking at the CP-6 sanyo for sometime , but was unsure of the quality and amount of footage you can fit on a 1-2GB card.

Any ideas anyone, or can anyone point me to a site with some footage from one of these cameras.

thanks

Here are a couple of files that you can download off Sanyo's Japanese site for the DMX-C6 model:

http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/products/lineup/d...ample_c6_01.zip (3.8MB)

http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/products/lineup/d...ample_c6_02.zip (3.3MB)

The web page is here: http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/products/lineup/d...mple/index.html

I saw some underwater footage from their HD model at last year's Interbee in Tokyo. Looked very nice for such a tiny camera. Samples from the DMX-HD1:

http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/products/lineup/d...mple_hd1_01.zip (7.7MB)

http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/products/lineup/d...mple_hd1_02.zip (7.3MB)

http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/products/lineup/d...mple_hd1_03.zip (16.1MB)

The web page is here: http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/products/lineup/d...mple/index.html

I haven't looked at any of these samples yet, but I'm going to check them out from home. ;)
