tonyliuliu 0 Posted June 25, 2006 I just got the ikelite 8inch dome port. I bought the extension for the 10.5 fisheye and 12-24mm. However, i really have a hard time twisting the port extension off one to switch to the other. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any other way to get it off easier? I guess it's also good to know that it's screwed on really tight to prevent leaking. Any ideas comments?

dhaas 33 Posted June 25, 2006 Tony, YES, a small oil filter strap wrench works best. The kind with a rubber belt as the gripping part. Maybe even get someone to hold the dome port outer ring while you work the strap wrench.... Also, grease the o-ring that seals the extension to the port. Enough grease to make it pretty shiny, almost gloppy but MAKE SURE IT AND THE SEALING SURFACE IT WILL MATE TO IS CLEAN!!!! This will make it easier to install and take apart if you find you're changing the extensions fairly often. dhaas
