Nikon D200 Vs Canon 30D

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

This is my first post here.

First of all thank you for all the interesting information I have found here so far. :D

I have played around a lot with small point and shoot camera's and would now like to progress to something more serious, I'm looking into buying a complete camera system.

Both the Nikon D200 and the Canon 30D seem to fit the bill, and I was wondering if there are any specific advantages for underwater photography that places one system ahead of the other.

Regards,

B.

That's easy. The Nikon 10.5 FE. Canon doesn't have anything to match this lens for a cropped sensor camera.

The 10.5 is my favorite w/a lens.

I'm a Nikon guy, but from what I've read and people I know that own the Canon 20D/30D, I believe they are in two different classes with the D200 being the better of the two. This is just my opinion as I don't know much about Canon's lineup.

I own the D200 and can say it is one phenomenal camera in regards to performance and ruggedness. Mine has been to hell and back without a glitch, and image quality is stellar.

The best opinion is your own. Go out and rent them both or borrow from a buddy and judge for yourself. Everyone is different. What initially got me hooked on Nikon was the way it felt in my hand and how logical the controls were for me. Also, back in the day when I began, Nikon had a better lens and accessory line up. Now days, they're pretty much equal as far as lens'and accessories. You just have to rely on what feels right.
