james 0 Posted July 20, 2006 My guess: a D70 with the D200 sensor in it, or if not the D200 sensor, then the 2-channel readout sensor used in the Sony Alpha. Cheers James

It's very unlikely to be any other 10.2M pixel sensor. I think the latter is more likely. It'll probably be 3 frames/second and don't need 4 channels of readout. Rocha 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Must be the D80/90... Interesting news indeed. Here is the link to the teaser: http://nikonimaging.com/global/
Alex_Mustard 0 Posted July 20, 2006 I guess it will also have the large screen of the D200 too. Probably a D200 sensor and screen, with plasticy body and a less good AF (possibly a new module). The big question is will it fit in existing D200 or possibly D70 housings? Alex
cdoyal 0 Posted July 20, 2006 "Plasticy"? Must be a technical term...
craig nelson 4 Posted July 20, 2006 I'm Completely Bloody sick of this digital !! I'm going back to film !!!, i never needed a new camera then ! craig.. after just buying his new D200
Craig Ruaux 0 Posted July 20, 2006 This might give me the excuse I needed to pull the AA filter pack off my D70 and turn it into a dedicated infra red body. Interesting that the normally inscrutable and very close-mouthed Nikon is actually doing some marketing. Here's hoping they have the production capacity in place to meet demand. Here's hoping they have the production capacity in place to meet demand. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think they are saying: Wait. Don't go and order that Sony A100 yet. They also announced the D70 way before ship date for similar reasons.
james 0 Posted July 20, 2006 I agree with Herb. Cheers James
ChrisJ 0 Posted July 20, 2006 first to market rules the competition. dSLR's wars remind me of the game console wars between nintendo/sony/xbox...its all about one-up-manship!

james 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Well...is the extra 4 megapixels worth an upgrade from the D70S? Cheers James
AndyBarker 6 Posted July 20, 2006 HI, It would be great if it would fit in my D70 Seacam housing So I would not have to save up for a D200 + housing Andy
jcfig 3 Posted July 20, 2006 I would be very interested in picking up a used d70 body. Or two.
murderone 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Why would anyone use equipment from a company that created the RS debacle? This is a company a day late--a dollar short and never failing to abandon customers. I don't think I care what they come out with--Mess with me once shame on you mess with me twice shame on me--or words to that effect. Count me as a Canon user folks. richorn 0 Posted July 20, 2006 always amuses me when someone is a canon user just because they hate Nikon... don't you like your CAMERA better?
herbko 0 Posted July 20, 2006 always amuses me when someone is a canon user just because they hate Nikon... don't you like your CAMERA better? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I suppose if you hate Nikon anything else is better, and there aren't that many other companys to choose from. The vast majority of DSLR's used underwater that aren't Nikon are Canon.
MikeVeitch 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Well...is the extra 4 megapixels worth an upgrade from the D70S? Cheers James <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it fits my housing then yes... i have to uprez my files to 50mb tiffs for my agencies, the extra 4mb would be fantastic. Ooooo please let it fit my D70 housing.... herbko 0 Posted July 20, 2006 i have to uprez my files to 50mb tiffs for my agencies, the extra 4mb would be fantastic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That makes about as much sense as judging the quality of software by how much disk space it takes up.
