paul.hunter 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Recently moved from Nikon F100 to the D200 camera and this was my first attempt at a sunburst. I've read alot about this issue around digital camera's and sunbursts. Any comments on this image. Shot in Malaysia, Sipidan. Nikon D200 in Sea & Sea housing, 2 x YS-90 strobes, 10 -20mm Sigma lens Slight crop in PS
MikeVeitch 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Thank you Paul! i have been waiting for a D200 sunburst.... and does it ever look WAAAY better than the D70... its definitely overexposed BUT it doesn't have that horrible cyan ring found on the D70 shots... Could you tell us the settings on the shot? I would suggest that you wait a little longer for the turtle to swim further into the sun and obscure the middle some more, that will give you spectacular rays around the turtle without washing out too much... I don't know your settings but... upping your fstop and cranking your strobes to highest power, no diffusers would help. Higher fstop is a definite plus in these shots.... Here is the all encompassing sunburst thread.... Sunburst thread
paul.hunter 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Hi Mike Thanx for the comments. I shot this at F8 and 250/s..I suppose I could have gone to F11 at least now that you mention it. Here are some others I took. Silhouette taken at F11 and other at F8...White balance was set to cloudy.
anthp 0 Posted September 28, 2006 SENSATIONAL Paul!! Very impressive sunburst if you ask me. Do you have any other photos from Sipadan?
xtremediver 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Very nice, Paul. I will be there in 3 weeks, and I can't wait to get back just for opportunties like your shots. The D200 is a very nice camera, isn't it? B)
loftus 42 Posted September 28, 2006 Very nice; there's hope for me. I'll be in the Bahamas in a few weeks, see what I can do. Very nice, Paul. depelos 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Great looking sunbursts Paul! I've been trying all sorts of things with my Fuji S2 to get sunsburts with the rays/streaks of light like yours. Looks like the D200 does that quite well. Glad to see digital can do it after all. Thanks for posting.
CeeDave 0 Posted October 11, 2006 I love the sunbursts on 1 and 2 ... but the gosh-durned bubbles, especially below the neck of the turtle, c'est desolee. Can you 'shop them out? Wishing I could go to a d200 or d80, but I just can't, yet... All the best, Chris
