Removing body from dome

Recommended Posts

I haven't used my 8" Dome since I got it three months ago but now I want to remove the body from the dome and send it to Ike for replacement.

Which way should I screw the body? Clockwise or anti-clockwise? I've tried both ways but I can't get it loose and I don't want to use too much power without being sure which way to screw.

Regards

Peter

Peter,

it's like a normal screw-in system (looking at the base - clockwise to screw-in, anti-clockwise to screw-out). On mine I thought I going to break myself before I was able to remove it the first time. It took a fair amount of force to release it.

You can also try immersing the port in very cold water prior to trying. It will shrink ever so slightly and make it easier to unscrew.

"Righty tighty, lefty loosey" I use a strap wrench bought from Harbour Freight, it uses a rubber strap around the extension tube. :)

I think strap wrenches should be banned. We men would be totally obsolete if it was not for difficult jars of jam. :)

Peter my friend.

I had the same problem with my Nexus and a extension ring one time.. was imposible to take away:

A small port wrench ( belt wrench) will help. I got my from Yuzo and its work wonders.

Never John! Without us, who would the girls turn to for sweeping generalisations then, huh? :D
