tonyliuliu 0 Posted November 25, 2006 This is the first time i used magic filter with the 12-24mm, no flash I normally use the 10.5 for most of my wideangle/fisheye shots, so i found that the 12-24 lens was quite a hard lens to use, i had some problems acheiving sharpness thorughout the whole picture. Maybe someone can help me with that. Any comments on the photos would be helpful.
AUTiger 0 Posted December 6, 2006 Which dome were you using and were you using a diopter? David
Alex_Mustard 0 Posted December 6, 2006 Corner sharpness with the 12-24mm is always something of a domeport and dioptre lottery. And I have found during the workshops I run that many manufacturers recommend not using a dioptre. And the people following that recommendation are disappointed with corner sharpness. Then during the workshop I have leant them a dioptre and wow, suddenly corner sharpness is much improved. The other problem that you may have here is that you are probably using a reasonable wide aperture (e.g. F5.6) and the 12-24mm will always struggle to produce decent corner sharpness when it is wider than F8 underwater. tonyliuliu 0 Posted December 6, 2006 I was using the 8 inch dome port and no i wasnt using a diopter. Alex, thanks for the tip. The pictures were taken with F22. So what could be the case? Maybe i should add a diopter and give that a try.
UWphotoNewbie 1 Posted December 6, 2006 F22?! Are you sure? With a filter and no strobe at F22 to get bright shots you must have had a very long shutter speed. Maybe you had it at ISO 3200? Most of my strobe shots are at f8 and 1/250 - 1/125 ISO 200. Could you check the XEIF?
