Your favourite shot of 2006

Recommended Posts

My 2 favorites for this year...

both taken at the Tubbataha National Marine Sanctuary, Sulu Sea Philippines.

Tub_Manta_1.jpg

and

Tub_5D_Sunburst_2.jpg

This one is hanging in in the office of the Tubbataha Marine Park Management office and another print was auctioned in a recent fund raiser to benefit Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park.

Sadly, the boat we were on in April sank when the a Super Typhoon hit the Philippines in November with the loss of the Mess Steward

Some great shots. I love the whale shots. Both of them. They are on my dream list. Roca Partida this Feb; weather permitting.

It's hard to pick just one favorite from 2006. This image of two sailfin blennies fighting is one of my better attempts this year. The shot is more luck than talent. It was taken with my old Oly c5050, 2x DS-125s and stacked macro lens adapters.

Geez...you guys amaze me. Some really great images here.

I tought I would add one just so ALL the posted pics aren't potential contest winners.

I like this one simply because of the time it took to get it. I camped out in the sand for most of the dive and took over 50 shots of this little jawfish excavating his new home. I kept firing away trying to get one of him spitting sand. He finally got comfortable with me being there and went about his business. Not a great photo (heck, none of mine are) but special to me just the same.

This was the best of two magical days at Roca Partida, diving with a family of humpback whales.

This gets my vote. That's fantastic! Love the tiny diver in the background.

Well as I'm shooting again I thought I'd throw my favorite in as well, put one of them fancy borders on it to! it took about 30 minutes to get but as soon I got it I knew I'd like it. They move around so much.

Ah, so Unterwasser has hit the streets. I am very happy to have my first article in there. Still waiting for my own copy. I have only seen a rough pdf so far.

The 2006 Wetpixel Bahamas trip with Jim Abernethy was the best trip ever for me. It is unlike any other

trip because you are with these really BIG animals. I was pretty nervous and hope to get better images

this coming year. I'm about 8 trips behind in the sorts but an image of a lemon shark from the Bahamas

trip stands out. I've blown this one up and its tack sharp....also got to meet the Wetpixel triumvariate in

one place at the same time....

Bahamas shark trip aboard Shearwater...took lots of tiger shots, but I like the mood of this reef shark shot best of anything I took on that trip.

This is my favorite shot of the year. It wasn't until I was reviewing on the laptop that I noticed the eggs.

Absolutely stunning!

Took ages for this guy to get comfortable with me being so close at the surface.

What a fun way to wrap up the year, to see all these beautiful images!

I have many favorites this year. But some of the most awesome diving I've done this year was a few manta night dives in Kona, Hawaii over Thanksgiving.

This was my favorite for the year, taken during a dive at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, where I work as a volunteer diver. The animal is Calypso, a green sea turtle that was rescued off Long Island about four years ago. She had a severe infection in the left front flipper, which had to be amputated to save the animal's life. She now lives in the Wings in Water exhibit with about 45 stingrays, a couple of sharks and about five tarpon. She eats lettuce, green peppers, brussels sprouts and cabbage. She loves to have her back scratched.

Hi Wetpeople!

This is my first post here, so: happy me! Spectacular thread this is, could not miss to contribute :D

I've started uw photography this year, and the portrait of this guy was taken on the second trip (to Krk, Croatia) with my D200 in it's Ikelite housing. Many firsts, this was also the first time a saw a yellow seahorse, so I was totally happy! Poseing like a real "badguy"...

The just before this dive I saw a D70 being flooded, well, not a happy sight...

So hi you all, here I am, hope to be posting now and then!!! And once again: wonderful pictures posted in this thread, real inspiration for the future, keep them coming, thx again!
