Inon Z240 and sync cord

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I currently have a couple of Inon Z220's and am considering get one or 2 Inon Z240's - mostly because of the aiming light.

Do the Z240's use the same Sea & Sea sync cord as the Z220's?

Cheers

Des,

Your only advantage over the Z220's is power, the Z240's are slightly more powerful than their

older brothers. The 220's have shutter activated features, and the 240's have lost the laser. They were really invented to satisfy the market with the message 'this strobe will fit any camera' - meaning that they wanted to offer a fibre optic oprion with 'pseudo sttl', but the slr user has no greater benefit than before.

I have two Z220's, and love them, they are easy and quick, and do have modelling light plus aim laser.. great for those learning strobe aim and new lighting styles.

I guess the question is: what housing and camera are you using?

The only direct competitor is the new YS110 by S&S, and they are $200 cheaper. Hope that helps.

Hi Eddy

The Z220's that I have do NOT have modelling light or laser. This was the reason I was considering a swap.

Was there more than one model of the Z220?

I am using an Aquatica AD200 and Nikon D200.

Cheers

Des,

Yes, there was 2 different model; Z-220 & Z-220s.

One with target light+laser & one without target light & laser.

Since I got Fisheye target light, I do not miss small target light of Z-220.

Thanks for that Sam. I've just switched from a Subal-housed D100 to a D200 with an Inon 220 and 220S. Part of the process of switching means I have "lost" the focussing light and laser of the 220. The Subal housing electronics and the D200 don't seem to be able to handle them. I was wondering about upgrading to the 240 - but I might well give the focussing light a go first. Those strobes are not cheap!
