highsee3 0 Posted January 11, 2007 I'm a little jealous, but my friend has just jumped right into uw photography and picked up the very nice Sea&Sea housing for the new D80. He has the ttl converter and two ys-90s. He has the fisheye dome port and is looking to house a wide angle zoom. I told him to buy the Nikon 12-24, but he feels he has spent too much money already (I know, buying your lenses last is putting the cart in front of the horse). I told him to buy the 10.5, 12-24 and 60 macro, but he doesn't always listen. My question is, will the Tokina 12-24 or Sigma 10-20 work in the Sea&Sea housing with a zoom gear, and if so, which zoom gear? The only lens listed on the Sea&Sea system chart is the Nikon 12-24. I don't know about the lens ring (I would contact Ryan at Reef Photo), but if I had to do it again I would not spend my money on the the Nikon 12-24. I would go with the Sigma and then possible a 16MM Nikon as well. I have the 10.5 (which I love) and the 60 that I use ith my D200 and Subal Housing.
BrantD 0 Posted January 12, 2007 (edited) Another option is the Sigma 15 FE 2.8 D EX, Great W|A lens! It was refered to me by Ryan and Richard at Reep Photo Video. I shot this in a S&S housing for the D200. Fits in the large dome with no ext. rings. Price is right too! Add the 60mm (my starter lens for underwater), and he has W\A and macro covered. IF he is into the REALLY small stuff, add a 105VR, I believe that shall me my next lens I just got a Sigma 17-70 for a zoom also, doubles as my "walking around" above water, lens for now, Price is right on it also. rachid 0 Posted January 12, 2007 My question is, will the Tokina 12-24 or Sigma 10-20 work in the Sea&Sea housing with a zoom gear.. A friend of mine use the Tokina 12-24 in S&S housing. The zoom gear is special and not from S&S. I use the Sigma 10-20 with my housing. Look in this thread.
Jens 0 Posted January 12, 2007 Hi, I`m reading in this forum a longer time and now I want to contribute here. I also use the Tokina 12-24 in my Sea&Sea DX-D200 housing. The zoom gear is special made because Sea&Sea has no. First I tried to use the lense only with my fisheye domeport. But the quality was not so good. So I put my extension ring 40 together with the fisheye domeport and now it´s ok. Has anyone the same problem? Jens
tomeyer 3 Posted January 12, 2007 I use the Sea & Sea 18-70 Nikon zoom gear with a small piece of felt on the inside to provide grip strength and it works just fine with the Tokina 12-24 . Tom
highsee3 0 Posted January 13, 2007 thanks for all the good info. My friend was using a Oly 5050 setup before and this has been an exciting step up, but a bit overwhelming.

Jens 0 Posted January 14, 2007 Hi Rachid! Thank you. Hope to finde here more questions about Sea&Sea Problems. In german forums Sea&Sea is not so represented. Jens
