hornloaded 0 Posted January 19, 2007 Can anybody tell me If I should even consider this. I have the opportunity to buy a used Aquatica Housing and Strobe for a Coolpix 5000 (a camera I have). Or I can buy an Olympus SP350 w/PT-030 Housing and Sealife SL960D strobe for about the same money. The question: Is the Coolpix 5000 wroth spending that kind of money on, or do I go for the New system? ThankYou in advance
DesertEagle 2 Posted January 19, 2007 While the Aquatica housing is probably very nice, the Coolpix is an older camera. Servicing the Aquatica housing costs almost as much as buying the new Olympus housing. Get the Olympus, or a Canon A540.
fish foto 0 Posted January 20, 2007 (edited) I've decided to go this route: http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/oly_sp350.html with an Ikelite DS125 strobe. The SP350 seems to me to be a very good option for U/W, short of housing an SLR. Edited January 20, 2007 by fish foto
geggle 0 Posted January 20, 2007 I shoot a cp5000/ike rig. although it's an older camera it still does things that most newer P&S can't do. Like shoot in RAW and you can throw out those extra macro lens' too. Don't need them with this rig. But......life moves on. You would be better off getting the sp350 at this time. Maybe someday the camera companies will start building P&S like the Oly 5050 and the cp5000 again. BUT DON"T HOLD YOUR BREATH!
