underwatercolours 0 Posted March 1, 2007 Tonight I discovered a website in Scandanavia that is using at least twenty of my images without permission. If you've got images online you might want to take a look at the site to see if they've got any of yours. They are using hundreds of images, most of them in the Dive Guide section at http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Scripts/world.Asp and the Calendar section at http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Scripts/calendar.Asp. Many of them have the copyright notices on them. Does anyone know anything about this company? The domain is registered to Tom Lund Jensen Christiansholms Parkvej 18 Klampenborg, , 2930 DK The site appears to be hosted in Copenhagen.

skawdiver 0 Posted March 1, 2007 Okey, to me it looks like an ordinary webshop, where people can registre to become members. Copyright inofmation on his website here. I think that this guy knows exactly what he does, when he steel images an use them on his websites. He gives the impression that the images are posted by users of his website, I don't belive it, I think it's a part of a cover-up. First I think that you should email him an tell him about the misuse of your photos, and at the same time tell him that his methods are beeing discused here on wetpixel. Second, I could make some postings on the danish newsgroup for diving, asking if anyone knows anything about this buisness. He might experience very fast, that what he is saving by steeling others pictures, he will lose by a big factor in bad reputation and missed deals. For mee to do anything, I need some kind of proof that he is misusing your pics. What say you ?
underwatercolours 0 Posted March 1, 2007 Here's a partial list... http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...Type2/coz4a.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...Type2/coz8a.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...Type2/coz7a.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...Type2/coz5a.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...pe2/15166_1.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...pe2/15166_2.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...pe2/15093_3.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...e2/sealion1.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...pe2/15280_2.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...pe2/15280_3.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...pe2/15281_1.jpg http://www.sportextreme.com/Diving/Images/...mone_Fish_2.jpg I haven't had time to look in depth but I suspect there are more. I have already sent him an email but have heard nothing back. I think most of these were stolen from the Aqua Safari web site, but also Cuan Law and Lammer Law and possibly Sam's Tours. In the US we can send a cease & desist to the hosting company when people don't comply, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't work in Denmark. Looks like my only recourse is to spread the word about such shady business practices. I sent an email to info@sportextreme.com like they suggest, but it was returned as an invalid mailbox. Thanks for the follow up on your end. This is certainly something I could not do by myself. Bonnie

A long time ago I ordered some products from them. Everything went alright in the end although they were not very responsive. skawdiver 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Bonnie, Sorry, not much I can do. I have made a search on the danish newsgroup for diving, and it appears that this company are doing things thier own way. It used to be possible to phone them for service, but that function is no longer available, not difficult to figure out why. Several post about poor costumer service too. So if they do not wish to respond to your emails, it looks like it's no different from there normal costumer relation procedures. The only thing left to do, seems to be to warn people from buying anything from sportextreme.com
Phil Rudin 298 Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) I looked just in my local area and found two of my images, both with my name on them. One of the images, taken from the air of a wreck sinking is not properly labaled. Phil Rudin Edited March 4, 2007 by tropical1

underwatercolours 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Bonnie have you tried contacting the admin: Administrative and Technical contact: Hostmaster, Technical (KH165) Struer Net A/S Kildegarden 5 Struer, , 7600 DK Hostmaster@struer.net +45.70254505 Fax: +45.70254506 Yes, I have sent messages to evey address and form on the site as well as those affiliated with the domain name and hosting company. No response. I've also found images from Gerri Murphey, Jim Watt and many others. I guess the best thing we can do is spread the word about what kind of company this is before any of us might think of spending money with them.
hoovermd 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Seems like it is time to escalate... I would now begin contacting each and every manufacturer that advertises on the site starting with AGIR. http://www.agir-brokk.com Seek to speak with/contact the Marketing and/or Legal folks at these manufacturers. If the site starts to get pressure from their suppliers then they might rethink their practices. The EU has pretty strict IP protections and I'm sure these manufacturers wouldn't appreciate THEIR IP getting appropriated. Who knows, there may even be some EU law that exposes the advertisers to some liability after they have been notified.

Christian K 0 Posted March 1, 2008 Site is down. According to a message on their site the comapny has been 'bought up' and a redesigned web site will be up in march. Smells a bit funny to me. Perhaps the pressure finally got to them. /c
