Rocha 0 Posted April 6, 2007 Hi all, Forgive me for the shameless self-promotion, but I am sure very few of you would see this if I didn't post it . This week one of my photos used to illustrate a scientific paper about Hamlets was chosen to be the cover of the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Not a scuba magazine, but my first cover!

seagrant 4 Posted April 7, 2007 Congratulations!!!! It is a lovely and aesthetic photo and more Luiz I think it has "soul" so to speak....., as I mean it captures the essence of "real" hamlet behavior. What is the article about, synopsis in layman's language? Do they talk about hamlets still "speciating" (I heard someone use that term and I've always wanted to use it in a sentence...., but I don't actually think it is a valid word - "undergoing speciation" would probably be the proper term... .)? Best, Carol
Kelpfish 15 Posted April 7, 2007 Awesome and it feels good, doesn't it?

Rocha 0 Posted April 8, 2007 Thanks everyone! Carol, yes, the paper was about speciation in hamlets. They concluded that even though there is no genetic difference between the "species", selection in coloration is strong (they claim they are mimics) and 99% of the individuals mate with same color species. So yes, this seems to be one of those cases of "ongoing" speciation. Luiz

Alex_Mustard 0 Posted April 10, 2007 Congratulations, Luiz. Nice one. I once got some fish sex on the cover of a medical journal (i have a photo of it somewhere) although there wasn't any marine articles anywhere inside. Alex
