fish foto 0 Posted April 9, 2007 (edited) Just got back from a trip to Indonesia on the N. Sulawesi Aggressor. Fabulous location and top notch service. Maiden voyage for the Olympus in an Ikelite housing with Ikelite DS125 strobe. A pretty decent little rig for shooting fish portraits and macro, I must say. Very slightly negatively bouyant, and one hand operation is easily possible. Camera was used in manual mode and generally set at f/5.6-7.1 with shutter speed of 1/100th sec, strobe set on TTL with diffuser, flash power set at -1.0 f-stop on the camera using ISO 50. Camera was used in super macro mode most of the time. When not in macro mode, the zoom was set at wide angle or ~1/2 way between wide angle and telephoto. I found autofocusing with the zoom set for telephoto to be considerably more challenging. I shot ~450 pictures. A couple examples from the Lembeh Strait are shown below. (pun intended.. ) Yes, I thought the setup was very easy to manuever with under water. I also brought along an Ikelite DS50 strobe, but the setup handled so well under water with the larger DS125 strobe that I never bothered swapping. And sure, moving this post to the gallery would be fine.

Lionfish43 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Wow, congratulations. I see a lot of stuff from Lembeh here on Wetpixel but you have presented a refreshing perspective. I like the way you've shown some of the environment and not just completely filled the frame with your subject.

Cheers, Tony The Kasawari was a great place to relax.......I kind of wish we had more time to spend there. The next part of our trip on the Aggressor was pretty darn nice, too! Hope to see you again sometime! Cheers, Peter
