UWphotoNewbie 1 Posted April 10, 2007 Does anyone know if the Ikelite port for the new 105mm VR has enough room for an achromat diopter like the 5T? I'm getting ready to make the switch to the 105mm VR for underwater rig. I've had the lens for over a year now but I've been waiting for a port. Originally I was hoping for a flat port to go along with my 8" dome extensions. Then I thought maybe there would be a AF/MF port. Now it looks like that won't happen. So I will probably go with a standard port before my trip to Baja this May. BUt I would at least like it to fit with the diopter. Thanks BTW. Has anyone dove Cabo Pulmo? LChan 0 Posted April 10, 2007 I have used the Ikelite 105mmVR port, and it does fit the 6T. I believe the 5T is smaller so both will fit. I have not tried it with both 5T and 6T together. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I had been hoping it would appear, but now I think it may never come. Would Ikelite entertain the idea of designing a custom flat port for the 105VR? Forget MF ability how about a simple cap threaded for the 8" dome extensions and optical glass on the end? I'm sure one of the extensions would fit? Maybe we could get a pool together top fund the development and put in a group order? BTW thanks, good to know that at least I have an option in the current port. If we're all going to have to invest in the 8" system anyway, having the macro port being just a flat glass/acrylic cap for the extension rings has several advantages I see right off the top -- * Very easy to transport -- 2" length vs 6" length * Lower cost to engineer/manufacture/purchase -- OK, minor savings, but still........... * Extensible -- same cap for the 55mm, 60mm, 105D, 105VR, 200mm -- just with different extension rings Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
