loftus 42 Posted April 17, 2007 These are beautiful Miguel. Can these be seen pretty consistantly in the Canaries? Any time of year better than another?
miguelcortes 0 Posted April 17, 2007 These are beautiful Miguel. Can these be seen pretty consistantly in the Canaries? Any time of year better than another? Hi loftus, Canary Islands and Hawaii are the only sites in the world that pilot whales live permanently. All time of year is good to see them, and the better place is the south of Tenerife island. Thanks for your comment.

Hi paul, both encounters snorkeling. There are some boats to go to see them since the surface, but I don`t know any dive centre for scuba diving or snorkeling. Thanks for your comment. It is almost too beautifull gerard Hi gerard, although I have programmed my camera settings to intensify the blue a little, the blue of that shots are very real and it's just as you can see in that place. davichin 18 Posted April 17, 2007 Migueeeeeeelll!!!!! great shots as are all yours!! For everybody´s info: Those are Tropical pilot whales "globicephala macrorynchus" and, like Miguel says, live permanently in the area with that true canary islands blue . In some areas is forbidden to dive/snorkel with them (out of them is ok) in order to protect them from crazy people but using common sense (like Miguel does) and letting them approach you is a non-offense way to enjoy them (and for them to enjoy you!). I have seen many pics of pilot whales but Miguel´s excellent family one is the best of them all....Miguel YOU OWE ME A TURTLE/PILOT WHALES DAY Last saturday, we went to look for another species of pilot whale "grampus griseus" and found them along with some dolphins "stenella frontalis" but could not get any good uwpic looking forward to go see you in Tenerife this summer!! (I can´t go before....maybe one sunday.... ) This is Luisa enjoying the whales she says they were very playful and the playful dolphins: I´ll call you tomorrow!!
