Michel Braunstein 1 Posted September 17, 2007 Are we still in the begining of September Mr Wong? Probably not, but here anyway are 3 pictures that I liked this year. Three of them were taken with Nikon D200 and 10.5mm housed by Aquatica and enlighted by two strobes Nikonos SB105. The two first pics were shot in Brussel's Nemo33 diving pool: F8, 1/60 The third pic has been shot in Eilat - Red Sea: F11, 1/60, 100ASA All the best, Michel

JackConnick 76 Posted September 27, 2007 OK, I'll play in cold water... California Gold - Garabaldi Anacapa Island, CA 3-lined Aeolid Keystone Jetty, WA Cave Dwelling Scaly Sculpin Gulf Islands, Canada I like this one the best, these guys are usually super colorful, but he was in a cave and almost pearlescent. All taken with Nikon D80/60mm macro/Fantasea FD80 housing/Inon z240 or Nikon SB800 strobes. Jack
arthropoda 1 Posted September 27, 2007 I play in cold water, too. "Wings and Whiskers" Lobos Rocks, Big Sur, CA Nikon D200, 12-24mm, YS120s, Aquatica, ULCS A rare kayak dive out to Lobos Rocks, two California Sea Lion haul outs located off Garrapata State Park. The visibility was only about 40', but the sea lions were abundant, active, and curious. I have only dove here a handful of times due to its remote location, but this time marked the most activity and interaction with the locals. Staying shallow increased my bottom time and also kept the sea lions interested. "A Jim Henson Creation" South Monastery Beach, Carmel, CA Nikon D200, 105mm, YS90s, Aquatica, ULCS, Niterider focus light After rolling around in the surge on the sandy bottom photographing a sculpin, I gave up and immediately noticed this little guy with one stylish hairdo. He must have been wondering what all the commotion was about. Timing the shots with the surge coupled with trying not to scare the subject back into its den were the main challenges. "Top to Bottom" Mono Lobo, Carmel, CA Nikon D200, 10.5mm, YS120s, Aquatica, ULCS One of those rare Central Californian days when it's calm, the sun is shining, and the visibility is, well top to bottom. Immediately upon descending, I knew it was a special day, and I quickly looked for a foreground subject to balance the kelp forest vistas. Lionfish43 0 Posted September 28, 2007 Here are a couple of shots that I like. I can't decide on a third so here are my two favorites. Lemon Shark and the Shearwater Northern Bahamas Nikon D200, 16mm lens, Aquatica housing, Ikelite strobes I wanted to capture some of the enviroment along with a strong portrait so I staked out this little ledge with the fan and soft corals and waited until one of the Lemon Sharks swam into my scene. Wild Dolphins Northern Bahamas Nikon D200, 10.5mm FE lens, Aquatica housing, available light I got this shot on my very last attempt when I was almost completely physically exhausted. This group swam up and passed me, only inches away. A high ISO (640) and manually pre-focusing my lens allowed me to get the shot

scubafotos 0 Posted September 29, 2007 Great shots from all of you. Hope the three of mine will make up the match. All three were shot with a Nikon F80 in a Subal housing, using 2 Subtronic strobes and the 105mm macro lens, except the manta trio of course which was shot with ambient light and 20mm wide angle. Slides were scanned with Nikon Cool Scan IV ED. Grouper and mantas shot on the Maldives in April 2007. Hawkfish shot on Red Sea Safari St. Johns in August 2007. Cheers and great dives for all of you!
