karant 0 Posted August 25, 2007 I am still new at the DSLR game. My current setup is the Nikon D200 with Aquatica housing. I have been using my 60 mm lens with the flat port. Is it ok to use this lens with the 8" dome port? Thanks for your input.
Rocha 0 Posted August 25, 2007 It will work fine, but you will lose magnification, and that's bad for macro (which is the purpose of the 60, right?).
uw_nikon 0 Posted August 25, 2007 Aquatica used to make a dome-shaped front element for its macro port for use with the 60mm.
Viz'art 24 Posted August 25, 2007 Wow Cris, your dating yourself, we haven't had that front element in the catalog for a loooooong time, One of the draw back of the 60 behind the dome is the proximity of the dome to the subject at the minimal focusing distance, thats a big area to cram in a tight spot and chance are you'd end up scratching the dome. Teir is always exeption to a rule and your need might mandate the use of such a combination I am as a matter of fact, planning to use this combination (or a variant of it) for doing split shots of frogs laying their eggs amongst other swampy subjects, In this case I do not wish to have the field of view associated with the typical wide lens used for split shots. And the subject actually being close to the virtual projected image, i uspect It might actually do very good. and swamp being notorious for their sofness, the Dome won't be pressed into harm's way.
