Islandbound 1 Posted September 30, 2007 It would look like this guy! I was trying to sneak up some anenome shrimp at about 25 feet or so and happened to look down and this little guy was literally between my elbows looking at me. This as far out of the rocks as he would come so I couldnt get a better photo. Love the paisley pattern though...! Anyone know what kind it is?
Leslie 0 Posted September 30, 2007 It's my favorite kind of shrimp. Genus Saron. Identification is based in part on color pattern. This one is similar to species 2 in Debelius's crustacean book and it's a female. The front legs on males are 3 times as long. There are several undescribed species which are fairly common. Islandbound 1 Posted September 30, 2007 Thanks Leslie! I tried to do a search on Saron shrimps and came up with a few photos of other color patterns. Unfortunately I dont have the Debelius book.
