I have a friend with a DS-125 not working, we already test the battery, the strobe with three different cameras and systems, and nothing, even shor circuit crossing wires, but nothing. The strobe is dead, battery and light are fine (tested with other heads). So is time to send it to ikelite for repair.

Anyone knows how much could this repair be? I know they have to review it first, but in past experiences?

N° 2, after repair is common that the strobe fails again, or is uncommon?

And N° 3, maybe this is a dumb question, but if I send it to ikelite overseas they ship it back overseas or U.S. only?

Sometimes Ikelite doesn't charge for repair - it just depends what is broken I think and if it's covered under their excellent warranty. So you may only have to pay shipping. Just make sure that if you ship from overseas you put on the customs form that it is a damaged unit being returned for repair.

Cheers

The same happened to me, some moths ago. The flash bulb wasn't working anymore. Luckily the strobe wasn't older then 2 years. That means I sent it to Ikelite (overseas, from Spain), and Ikelite sent it 3/4 weeks back to me, repaired with no charge. They are great!

Mine started acting wierd on the last dive of my last trip (whew!) and I sent it in. They said there was a partial flood through the bulkhead and charged me $125 to fix it. However, they also gave me a new battery pack (the new kind) for free and previously have done lots of repairs for free.

I would send it in and have faith that they will either fix it free or for a reasonable charge. You're not going to get a bill for $500 like my friend always does from Nikon for his SB105s. :-) [sorry, couldn't resist].

I was in Malaysia when I dropped my DS-125 and cracked the strobe tube. Once I got back to Canada, I sent it in for repair and they charged me ~$100, which in my opinion is pretty good. I've since had it in the water a few times and it works great. WRT your third question, they ship to me in Canada, so I would think that they will ship overseas no problem.
