paul.hunter 0 Posted April 1, 2003 Greetings I have been offered to purchase a Sea&Sea MotorMarine II with YS-50 Stobe for +/- $250, would this be a good deal or not and when examining the equipment what are the things I should look out for or test. This would be a second U/W camera as my first one is digital and not the best when it comes manual settings and macro. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanx Paul B)
wetpixel 0 Posted April 1, 2003 I would definitely take the kit for -$250. (what was the "+/-" for? ) Just kidding. I'll go away now. I have nothing constructive to add.
yahsemtough 0 Posted April 1, 2003 That's a pretty good price if you think about what it would cost to rent it. That camera is probably lacking some of the settings the newer version incorporated. Speed adjustments, stop confirmation and the newer strobes have multiple power settings. Back to my first comment, it would probably cost you that to rent it for a week. I also believe the add-on lenses are usuable with the PT housings for the digital camera.
JackConnick 76 Posted April 1, 2003 The MMII should have the better speed settings and so forth. I'd stay away from a MMI. For macro you'll want the 2x adapter. B&H has all lenses and so forth a lot cheaper than other places. You might want to look around on EBay and see if you can find a whole system. The 16mm and large optical viewfinder are nice to have also. But it'd be hard to beat for $250. You should probably have it serviced for $100. Jack
Dave H 0 Posted April 2, 2003 I just sold the same setup for $800 Australian. Convert that into US and I would say that your getting a very nice deal...
paul.hunter 0 Posted April 8, 2003 Had a look at the rig it is the MM II and not the MM II EX which allows you to adjust shutter speed. What is the down side to this and should I rather try and get the MM II EX. The guy also wants $450 and not $250 as I mentioned earlier. Also no lenses. yahsemtough 0 Posted April 8, 2003 If you want the MMIIEX with the YS60 strobe and the High Power viewfinder and lens caddy let me know. My set-up is well cared for and the viewfinder only used on one trip. We can discuss a price. I know the viewfinder is something you definately want to have with that set-up. Send me a PM if interested.
