Hi,

I'm using the 400d in a Hugyfot housing with two Inon Z240 optically triggered and I'm pretty happy with it.

Attached is a sample.

Regards

Kim

Thanks for the sample pic...

not trying to sounf negative but the pic looks somewhat underexposed. Was this intentional? It looks good, very good actually, but my questions is towards trying to find the Canon's potential and you having 2 stobes it looks a little out of light.

What lens did you use?

If you could provide some more pictures ( a much as possible llooll ) I would be most greatful.

Do you have the EXIF data?

Best regards,

Tiago

I also use the Canon 400D XTi camera. I have it in an Ikelite housing and an Ikelite DS-125 strobe. Here is a link to one of the galeries I have posted here on Wetpixel. Please note that these were taken using an older Ikelite DS-50 strobe and not the 125 (the 125 is new and I have not yet posted any of those images).

I used a Sigma 15mm fisheye.

I don't have the EXIF data with me but this is what I remember:

Shutter speed 1/200s, aperture f22, ISO 100

The underexposing was not intentional - the two Inons are just not strong enough to further lighten up this kind of scene with these exposure values. A different strobe positioning might have improved it a little.

Kim,

First off, I do not think this photo is terribly underexposed. In fact, compositionally I think it is near perfect. The main subject is obviously the sunburst in the context of how it appears underwater. Whether it was intentional or not, the use of subtle lighting (almost as a fill-flash) creates more shadow and thus gives a greater sense of depth to the image. I like it as is!

This is just my opinion, and is complete subjective. Then again, I’m looking at this photo from my work computer with a really crappy monitor and your picture may really stink (just joking!).

Best wishes,

Michael

I really like the foto... it has a very nice composition and overall look.

I just asked about the under exposure because I would like to see the diference between stobes and no strobes

:)

I just got back from Belize, which was my D400's first underwater run with Ikelight housing and dual DS 125 strobes. I loved how it handled underwater. I have started plowing through over 1,300 photos and I really like what I've seen so far.

Do it, you won't regret it.
